The wall around this area extends for a full block and includes ancient buildings and temples, along with various water features. It takes one back in time and is worthwhile outing. Read more

Spacious park with a well-manicured lawn. The huge temple is at the far end. There are several souvenir stores around the temple.Buy a postcard and a stamp, drop in the mailbox and send it to yourself.

Beautifully manicured gardens enclosed in this temple of literature, considered the first university in Hanoi. Historic and plenty of information to read, mainly reconstructed but still authentic

The place is great, just too crowded. Lonely planets hints are enough to get the most out of the place. Some good souvenirs in the inner shop, but the prices are above average, try bargaining.

The temple was first constructed in 1070 and in English, it means the Temple of Literature which is one of the famous places in Hanoi and considered by many Vietnamese as the first university.

Not as impressive as it's made out to be in the guidebooks and usually terribly crowded. If you've seen a few temples this can be safely skipped. If not, best come early.
