In Germany, da train stations in every city gives you a hint about the city itself, How large it is, Is it crowded or not & how many connections it has! Düs Hbf is ideal example for what I wrote.
Easy access to the underground, local trains and ICE. Japantown is around the corner and the Altstadt is in 15 minutes walking distance.Upvoted 1 week ago
To avoid the crowd use the subway platform to get from one end of the station to the other.

Toilets are clean. Lovely little bar at end of the station. Should you need to wait.
Higher number platforms, always ask to be dropped off near the back of the train station
There is a mobile phone shop in one corner selling SIM cards
An only place that I have found a little bit dangerous in Duesseldorf😂- Zum Schiffchen platform 16. Good pub grub. Free wife after entering your name only.
Get a nice cup of koffee at dean and david seating inside
Crazy station full of people. Not much for shopping or food, but enough to survive. Starbucks at the back entrance...

McDonalds open 24/7, has starbucks and shop open Friday and Saturday 24 hours
Die Seitenausgänge sind oft schneller. Use them wisely to save time.
try the brandnew bookshop near the main entrance for a large collection of international newspapers and magazines
try the Döner Road close to Main Station. Best döner for à cheap Price
Don't believe the announcement saying your train goes from platform 20 today. Theres always a train for car transport blocking that platform.
Check out Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. Those €1 coffee everywhere else at the station is crap!
take stairs in the middle of plattform for S-Bahn trains and track 9 & 10
Never buy coffee from the vending machines and in "gleis 11/12" is the worst coffee for 1 euro... Better take your tine and go downstairs to tschibo or starbucks!
If your train's delayed have a Drink @ Zum Schiffchen (Track 16/18)

Die Bahnhofsmission hat einen Kinderraum mit Wickeltisch, Stillmöglichkeit und für die Größeren sind Spielsachen da. Im Gang zwischen Gleis 12 und 13.
