- ElifJune 7, 2015If you do something well, here is the result. We have waited half an hour to taste and enjoyed a lot. Hot sauce is really hot, be careful and have the white sauce as much as possible.
- The best Halal cart in NYC hands down. To those of you who think its 53rd and 6th your sadly mistaken. 52nd and 6th is where its at. The meat is more tender and theres no bones in it. Simply amazing.Upvoted Feb 16
- Lamb Gyro platter without the rice or salad is what I get. HOT sauce is really HOT. Don't try to be a hero. Go crazy with the white sauce though. Always buy one extra for the next day!
- John WJanuary 20, 2013If you can take 10-15 min to hit up Jackson Heights for Sammy's halal (vendy award winner) or 6th & west 4th outpost, seriously so much better. More flavorful & so worth it. Ask for the green sauce!
- They are the only halal guys where you will get exactly what you paid for. You can put your own hot sauce and white sauce on your food instead of having someone else do it. A New York staple.
- ℳ𝒶𝓎♍March 26, 2019A staple in the NYC food scene, The Halal Guys has taken Food Carts and Halal Food to the next level, legendary status! There's always a long line in this location but it's worth every waiting minute
- Julian NamDecember 13, 201410:1. The optimal ratio of white sauce to red sauce. The white sauce is that delicious. The red sauce is that spicy. And for a winner: get 1/2 lamb 1/2 chicken over rice. You're welcome..
- Djaniella D.April 13, 2015One of the best street foods you'll find in NYC! Trust me, it's worth the wait.
- Ivy MJuly 16, 2015Got the mixed rice twice in a week! So good! Be careful not to put too much hot sauce though, it's super spicy and this is coming from someone who can take spicy
- Bill PowellMay 1, 2016Don't miss the beer gyro and chicken and rice. Don't worry about the line, it moves fast. Also look across the streer, there are two cart, both from the same place. :-) Bring CASH , and an appetite.
- Sooooooooo good. I dream about their lamb gyro. The white sauce is amazing (and I usually don't like white sauce from other carts), but the hot sauce is terrifyingly hot.
- Leonardo VillaMay 31, 2016Caution: the pepper sauce is waaay too strong! I put a few drops and got nearly-dead. That being said, just buy your choice and sit nearby to eat it. The chicken over rice is great and comes in tons!
- ConstantinSeptember 19, 2015Make sure to get white sauce! Remember you add the sauce yourself. So, get your combo, add sauce on top, mix your order and pour more sauce!
- Definitely a good choice for the first time Halal Food experience. Get a combo(chicken&lamb) over rice! One order of a rice dish could feed two people. BBQ sauce is essential. Cash only!
- If you go during prime dining hours, you can expect to wait in line. But the line moves fast. Best halal in town. I like to mix the white sauce with BBQ sauce for extra punch
- NAugust 22, 2016Food is delicious and affordable😍. The combo over the rice 👌🏻. The "hot sauce " is realllllly HOT 🔥
- Wen Seng LieOctober 20, 2015The famous gyro stand in NYC. People from all around US, and the world come to taste their excellent big portioned rice. They are very quick but accept only cash. I lovw their chicken over rice.
- MyThy HuynhJuly 7, 2014$4 for mixed meat sandwich & $10 for mixed meat over rice which comes w/ slices of pita bread. Ask for both white and red sauce and small containers to go. Best $10 spent and there was no line at 4p!
- Zach M.June 23, 2013Best Street Meat in NYC, hands down Yogurt and hot sauce are a must! Some will even sell the hot sauce by the bottle. Watch out for impostors! (The real deal are in yellow shirts that say "Halal Guys"
- Oliver LewisNovember 18, 2016Multiple stations ensure that food is always available. Long lines encourage as to quality--they move quickly tho. Food is great! Sandwiches or plates--either way you can't go wrong!
- Caroline LeFebruary 13, 2015Ah yes the original Halal guys, what more do you expect than perfection? They know how to make killer halal, and the sauces are out of this world!! Shredded halal is the key!
- Brandon BrowneMarch 15, 2015I like the one of the northeast corner who allow you to put on your own sauces (so much extra white sauce). Definitely get a side of falafel as well. Great NYC experience.
- Combo, extra pita, no salad. A ton of White sauce + BBQ sauce + a sprinkle of hot sauce. So good for reheating for breakfast too!
- Костя ТарасовSeptember 9, 2013If you're like me and don't usually believe the hype, trust me - this is well worth it. The food is fucking amazing. 6$ could easily feed 2 people and a small girl. Tip: don't go easy on the sauce.
- Best place to go to for little or no lines. I avoid the other location on 53rd & 6th since there can be a line during lunch. Make sure the cart and the shirts the cooks are wearing say The Halal Guys.
- Standing in the long line is part of the experience. If you are a first timer or taking someone there for first time....do it. Don't go crazy with hot sauce but definitely try the white sauce.
- EmilyJuly 11, 2016This is an awesome food stall. The portion they give you is huge! Be sure to drench it in white sauce and only use the red if you like things extremely spicy.
- Excellent street food! Be sure to load up on extra sauce.
- Tara SuanDecember 5, 2013The DIY sauce station is a minefield. The red sauce is REALLY hot. If you do like I do, and cover the top of your plate with red sauce, you are seriously going to be screwed. Go easy!
- Gyro sandwich was super tasty, filling and only 5 bucks. Plus, they're really efficient and the long line moves quickly.
- Che FranciscoMarch 1, 2016The Halal Guys have established themselves as one of the "staple" food to try in NY. Provides cheap, easy and delicious meal.
- Best drunk food EVER! It's great! There's actually two other stands beside the original one which are own by the same owner so you don't have to wait in the ridiculously long line.
- Juan BustamanteOctober 1, 2017The best street food! Love the experience! Do not underestimate the hot sauce!
- Alden CatesMarch 20, 2015Chicken over rice is delicious, ask for more salad though! Careful with the red hot sauce, it is VERY hot (but good, so add more white sauce to balance it out!)
- Roger RMay 29, 2016Best street meat in the city...the sauce is the star, but for the money there's nothing better than a mixed platter. Must stop when in NYC prepare for long lines
- Zeny St GeorgeApril 30, 2013Got the chicken and lamb over rice with extra white sauce and hot sauce. It truly is only $6!!! Really good cheap eats in NY! Glad I tried it.
- Greg WilcoxSeptember 17, 2013INCREDIBLE chicken over rice for $6! Do yourself a favor, go here & beware impostors! (though note that these guys have several carts, the sign at 53rd and 6th will tell you which ones are authentic).
- Scott RienbeckNovember 22, 2013Best Halal food you can get. I didn't even know what it was but it's delicious. Their red sauce is no joke if you can handle it spicy. A must hit food cart in NYC.
- RashaniaAugust 1, 2017It's good if you have a late night craving .. otherwise NY have tons of good restaurants that you can set and enjoy a meal.
- Jeffrey KaoDecember 18, 2014If you are here because you are drunk, and your friends tell you to take a shot of the hot sauce for five bucks, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY DO IT.
- Justin OrdovezaNovember 9, 2014Great halal truck. The creamy sauce and spicy sauce are great. Be prepared to wait and be prepared with your order.
- Elias GerstmayrNovember 10, 2017Amazing food, worth queuing and eating at the street along with tourists and bankers, just loved it.
- If you know any better, you'll know the carts are all the same & if you're at the original with the Godforsaken longest line you're either: 1) A sucker 2) A tourist. Go across the street or on 52nd ✌️
- Jouni PärssinenAugust 20, 2014Try the mixed plate and don't be intimidated by the long line, these guys work fast. Watch out for the sauce in the bright red bottle. That stuff will kill you.
- R TDecember 20, 2018Over rated-Prices are going up& not worth it anymore with less quantity. Chicken over rice is good with W&R sauce. shah halal food make the best halal food ( they are main in queens area)
- Ata SOctober 10, 2016There are so many better other "chicken and rice" spots in the city, avoid this hype of once a great cart now a factory spot. Cooking everything in bulk with very little care of attention to details.
