You could spend two hours and still only scratch the surface. Check out the excellent cult movie section. Huge vinyl areas that cross all genres with used and new records. Helpful staff too.
They almost always have what I am looking for. Great staff. Ask for help if you need it. The back right-hand corner of the store (when looking from the front door) has some of the most amazing pop-culture items you can find in a store. Also lots of great albums on the wall in that area.
If you're a bargain hunter, buy used... OR just keep your eye out for half price Amoeba gift certs. They have 'em at almost every cool street fair, festival, and museum night in LA.

The world's largest independent record store (even though the original of the 3 Amoebas is in Berkeley)! Shop their huge selection of used CDs, DVDs, and vinyl, which is half the 43,000 sq. ft. store!

Take a dive in the World Music section on the right side of the store, and judge off the artwork - you never know what you might find and like!- They sell tickets for the best Indie concerts at The Music Box up the street. AND they have the best selection of new and old vinyls I've seen.

Amazingly huge selection of LPs and CDs, plus there is an impressive movie department upstairs.
