This place is an absolutely treasure and a must for any music, movie or pop-culture buff. Massive collection and good prices, you can easily spend hours here browsing all the cool stuff they have.
Amoeba Music is a Los Angeles must see. They have great movies to buy, Amazing music to buy, and free live music. Such a great place to go and spend an hour or two.
Great anthology of American music. Saw Motion City Soundtrack live here and got to briefly talk to the band. Amazing selection of vinyl, movie posters and merchandise, next to VeggieGrill on Sunset.
“A cross between a supermarket, a flea market, and your favorite indie music venue. The only drawback: a rare 12-inch import record is hard to giftwrap.” - Neil Blumenthal, Co-Founder of Warby Parker Read more
best record shop i've EVER been to! i finally found Dan Croll's debut on vinyl since it first came out and i even found the rare "Get Lucky" remixes on vinyl! if you're in the area, definitely stop by
You could spend two hours and still only scratch the surface. Check out the excellent cult movie section. Huge vinyl areas that cross all genres with used and new records. Helpful staff too.
They almost always have what I am looking for. Great staff. Ask for help if you need it. And check in before you walk in so you can see your name on the info screen.
This is the largest record store I have ever been too. People trade in and trade out so much in 24 hours there could be completely new music, posters, and movies. Great selection. Love this place
The back right-hand corner of the store (when looking from the front door) has some of the most amazing pop-culture items you can find in a store. Also lots of great albums on the wall in that area.
If you're a bargain hunter, buy used... OR just keep your eye out for half price Amoeba gift certs. They have 'em at almost every cool street fair, festival, and museum night in LA.
The last and greatest record store on the planet, if you don't go there for their awesome selection of final and CDs you have a ridiculous selection of movies that you can't find anywhere.
Great selection of new and old vinyl. Prices range depending on what you're looking for. The store also hosts in-store performances and has featured artists such as White Denim, Cut Copy and others.
They have a wide selection and overall good service. Their countrymusic section is quite good but the folk section has something to be desired, though it is still good. Their jazz section is good
This is the Mecca, Jerusalem, Rome, Lhasa, & Benares of record stores. All lovers of music must make the pilgrimage here at least once in their life to pay homage to the music gods and goddesses.
The hangar-size emporium has an awe-inspiring selection of music, DVDs & posters and is also the site of AMAZING free in-store concerts by huge acts! The store rests above an underground parking lot. Read more
I grew up in record stores like this one. I buy most of my music online these days, but there’s always a rare find in the bins or a cool music show to catch. - Darryl Stephens, DTLA - The Series
It's THE place to buy music for a music lover. Their music selection is out of this world and you can find some great deals in the used CD/DVD sections. You can spend hours browsing the store.
The largest independent music store still has the cool and hip vibe that it had since it opened in the 90s. Ask anything about music to the staff, and you’ll get that CD you’re looking for.
One of the last great record stores left. Think 'Empire Records' but 3x larger and in the heart of Hollywood. It's your best bet at tracking down those hard-to-find records. Beware going on weekends.
IMPOSSIBLE-TO-FIND LP's, DVD's, Laserdiscs, BluRay's, memorabilia, electronics and more are RIGHT HERE. New inventory added ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. One of THE BEST music stores in the world, hands down.
Huge record store right on Sunset. Always has the newest and most hard to find selection. Never disappointed with the shopping/looking/listening experience. -Alex Reznik, Top Chef
The world's largest independent record store (even though the original of the 3 Amoebas is in Berkeley)! Shop their huge selection of used CDs, DVDs, and vinyl, which is half the 43,000 sq. ft. store!
If you can't find it here. You prob can't find it anywhere. One of the last sole proprietor record shops left! If ur in the area check out Umami burger. Beware burgers r made rare. Or Thai next door.
Make sure that these coaching institutions and the soprano masters are well involved with the fully accredited universities that are dedicated to music degree programs. Read more
Great record store!! .. be sure to check out clearance sections and used sections also. Be sure to VALIDATE your parking ticket if you parked in the structure connected to the ArcLight Cinema.
If you ever see an artistperform at our venue and you have to get the music right away... cruise down to Amoeba and get it. You'll love the place, they have everything.
the best record store to go in LA if you want to get lost, frustrated, overwhelmed, forget your phone at the front where you check your bag & leave without any music
Amoeba always has killer in-store performances from the best bands! Make sure to check the schedule for upcoming events. Fitz & the Tantrums was one of my favorite performances! - @lndsygblr Read more
Awesome animal shelter donation drive this October at Amoeba, with proceeds benefitting @BFAS_LA and @NKLA! Ask them about how you can help homeless cats & dogs and get $3 off music :)
The best record/movie store in the world!...though...this is mainly for hard to find records or movies because most of the normal release stuff is overpriced.
