Plan your grocery list before you go or you will be run over. Also, beware old ladies or else you'll run one over. Pause halfway through at the olive bar to compose yourself. Then continue.
The deals on meat/poultry and fresh produce make this grocery destination worth it! Great place to stock up on chicken breasts. Later in the evening is the best time to go!
Pick your battles regarding when you visit as it can be quite crowded at times, especially since the closing of the nearby West Side Market & Duane Reade.
This is the best Fairway in the city as far as selection goes. The layout is a little crazy and it can be difficult to maneuver the aisles, but it's worth the trouble.
Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp Gelato is made with milk from Maine farms, blueberries from Down East, vanilla beans from Madagascar, and crunchy oat streusel baked in Brunswick.
Rotisserie chicken salad and the London broil at the deli counter are both worth the wait. Was double-charged for an item and Crystal at customer service fixed it with a lovey demeanor.
I love Fairway, but the cafe upstairs is not so great at this location if you want to bring something from downstairs bought at the market to eat there.
Love the granola options on the second floor. Cheaper than whole foods. They also carry sesame sticks and corn kernels in bulk bins. Good variety of international fruits. Cheapsoups.
If it's crowded, head to the deli counter first to get a number ticket and then grab some of the other items on your list while you wait to be called. That line gets crazy long!
I drizzle Silver Spring wasabi sauce (at fish counter) on my chilled crab cake (also at the fish counter) for a quick snack. It's an amazing combination!
There's a weird long line for the registers but it moves pretty quickly. A bit of a groceryfarm with too many workers in the way because of the small aisles...but that's New York City!
Good selection of coffee and cheese. More expensive than Trader Joe's down the street but more of a selection of brand names and more variety of products if this is important.
Forced to sit on uncomfortable bar chairs at a tiny bar table with plants basically in my face. Crammed near Customer Service. WAY too tight! Need more space! AC also turned up way too high.
Absolutely crazy amount of imported food. I'm from UK and found it all! Also, be prepared to bump and jostle your way around. Very unorganized aisles and check out system.
Why should one buy berries here when they are left outside all day? Might as well buy from the nearby fruit cart at about half the price. If they want us to pay a premium price refrigerate them.
agree with others for going during off-hours to avoid getting hit by the leg with those carts. The newbies get so lost for not following the unspoken rule of finding the end of the register line...
