Samovar is the kind of place you can go by yourself for a decadent tasty meal and just soak up the city. The Japanese service is my personal fav. And remember, hot drinks on a hot day cool the body!
Personally speaking, this place is more suitable for having lunch than dinner, especially with good weather outside. I liked the Egg-Salmon bowl, healthy and tasty.
The Greek yogurt is like crack. You’ve never had yogurt so creamy and tart. They sweeten it with a honey date drizzle sauce that is even more crack and serve with fresh apples.
What a nice SF gem... Tea place serving this unique brunch dish and an outstanding selection of delicious tea. Gt the salmon rice bowl with eggs. Mmmm with a view!
Sit outside in the sun amongst the greenery or lounge indoors in front if the massive windows. The chai tea is delicious. Hungry? Try the quinoa waffles and fruit and cheese plate.
Go to place when I am looking for light but great food and able to escape the busy streets around mission. Overlooks Yerba Buena, views of the church and the Jewish museum grounds are lovely.
Come here to take a break from being in the city to sit out on the terrace when the weather's nice! The food and the drinks are on the expensive side, but the ambiance is so worth it.
Excellent tea selection. I had the toast with avocado and egg, it was dope. The perfect lunch setting, it's a hidden gem of tranquility in this bustling town.
The squash dumplings are delicious! The oolong tea pairs great as well. I became a fan of tea because of samavor! (Follow Instagram @foodaholic_anonymous)
OMGGGG I loved this place!!!! Delicious pairings of tea and food by country (I ordered the China pairing). The staff was knowledgeable and the view from the outside seating is beautiful.
Come here to escape from the hustle of the city. Set back from the street w/i a plaza, the glass walls look up at the city buildings. Perfect place to have a quiet meeting or to reflect.
I love the venue, their tea selections, and Isobe Mochi (order it with the sauce on the side so you can taste the mochi and control how much sauce you want to put on it).
decent japanese tea place :) paleolithic tea service was tasty. try their honey comb with cheese, crackers, n fruits plate! & squash dumplings. pretty good :D
Their masala chai and green tea cake are so delicious! However, this location is unnecessarily expensive and I recommend going to their other location on Valencia which is cheaper.
Big choice of tea, as it can be seen from the name. But borscht in "Russian service" was with overcooked vegetables and too salted, so it's not the best experience for the first meeting with the dish.
Healthy eats in a beautiful setting at the Yerba Buena gardens makes this place a spot I visit again and again. I love the English, Russian and Moorish tea services. Their salmon quiche is fantastic.
Great location, especially on a sunny day. Servers are horrid and will forget half your order + tell you to finish quickly to seat others as soon as you get your food! (1 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
Get the local artisan cheese platter. A block of honey, fruit, and cheese - delish. Get the Jasmine green tea if you're overcaffeinated and Tolstoy's tip if you're undercaffeinated.
Smoked salmon JOOK, comes with a great sampling of toppings! All the teas are fabulous, the atmosphere is beautiful. Great spot; I visit everytime I am in SF.
Our Tea Lounge at Yerba Buena Gardens is reserved Tuesday, July 9 to Thursday, July 11 for a private event. We hope to see you at our other locations on those days! http://www.samovarlife.com/#visit
Updated menu in 2015, nothing is labeled clearly anymore but they have lots of vegetarian and gluten free options including gluten free sandwiches (just ask your server).
If you order tea soup, they literally pour tea from a pot into your rice bowl. Then you can ask for a tea cup to drink the rest. Smoked salmon is very salty. Matcha shake is light & just sweet enough.
Great tea selection. Quiet spot in the middle of the city, nice views. Yummy small dishes. My favorite: Russian tea set (smoky, sweet) = all-you-can-drink.
I use their teas obssesively in my desserts. Also sit and enjoy a pot of tea, relax, you'll feel your karma get lighter. -Yigit Pura, Top Chef Just Desserts
