$4 parking. Use atm's inside. Don't forget to remember your parking slot number. Clipper card holders: Remember to tag on and off or it could cost you a lot more.

Bring your rolling suitcase because the "subway" tunnels can get long when you have to switch tracks . . . Capital corridor rocks though!!
  • Satchel B.
    Satchel BelanskyAugust 6, 2012
There is a sign posted at the entrance to the tunnel that tells you what track your train will be on. On a rare occasion trains are diverged onto other tracks, so be alert for any announcements made.

Amtrak long term parking is free with Amtrak ticket. Lot is beside baggage room and bicycle parking. Get a pass inside at ticket counter.

Bolt has a restroom in the bus. Power outlets available. Catch the buses at their first stops to get a seat of choice or u will see people sleeping on two seats. Ok Recliner seats.

Have some extra time? Head out left from the front door, through the lot and turn left on Alameda. Walk 100 meters to lovely dining and a Whole Foods. Buy chocolate.

This station can be tricky to navigate - look for timetable signs as they will guide you to the correct track. Most weekday SF bound trains depart from tracks 2 and 3, weekends tracks 4 or 5.

Arriving after 8:00am will limit your parking options. Street parking is now same price as parking lot at $4.00 or you can park across the street on top of the SAP center for $3.00

Remember to get the number from your parking space if you are going to park in caltrain's parking lots. You need them when you pay for parking. You don't have to go back to your car.

If you're not sure what track your train leaves from, it's best to ask the CalTrain employee inside the building and they'll direct you whenever they're available. :)

Use the VTA ticket machines to add money to your clipper card and buy passes for the other transit agencies. The machines are faster and easier to use than ones in the train depot.

Interchange station between Santa Clara VTA, Monterey Salinas Transit, Altamont Commuter Express, Amtrak Capitol Corridor and Highway 17. Attending San Jose State University? This is your station!

Area around the station is a little shady, but not bad in the daytime. There are a lot of good places a few blocks away for a quick bite to eat or drink.

At the bottom of the ramp leading to the subway under the tracks is the board of trains, arrival/departure times, and track numbers. Grab yourself a timetable and there won't be any more confusion.

If the parking lots are being used for the SAP Center and you’re just picking up, tell them and they’ll let you park for a short time

If you arrived way too early to catch Megabus to LA which leaves at 12:35 pm... Come inside the station and have a snack. Pretty good popcorn and will save you from burning outside waiting for bus.

u never know which platform the train will stop. People are constantly lost asking each other information. The electronic signs are there to decorate the place and tell u what time and day it is..

Get there early to buy the monthly parking permit. It's easy to spend 15 minutes walking back and forth after buying the permit.

Don't sit on the steps close to the tracks, even if they look warm, sunny and safe. You won't get run over, but you may get a talking-to from a conductor.

Figure out which track your train is leaving from. You don't wanna have to run down the ramp to go and catch your actual train as it's departing.
