- Christian FriisApril 26, 2013Nice place and good comfort food. The coffee is not strong, regular sizes only have a single espresso shot so make sure to order a double shot if you like to taste the coffee and not only the milk.
- Lewy JonesJuly 8, 2020I feel a great deal of nostalgia for Fat Dog - it reminds me of cafes from the 90s (that’s a compliment). Large space, friendly, thoughtful staff. The waffles are delicious
- SaritDecember 16, 2014Lovely staff, comfy space, and delicious food! Eggs Benedict with Salmon was perfect size and just the right breakfast.
- Pavel BulowskiJanuary 13, 2017Great value for money, friendly staff and student-traveler vibe. Plus really good coffee!
- Mitra SalaselJanuary 4, 2016Best flat white in rotorua--be prepared for a wait for coffee during peak times
- Klaudia ParisJanuary 10, 2020Great burgers, amazing sizes and absolutely lovely staff! Also great tea and desserts, 10/10
- Nic Miller-ClendonApril 27, 2012You have got to try the seafood chowder! Service was efficient especially since place was rocking full of marathon supporters
- Lucie AidartMay 28, 2014Great food, quirky decoration and a little bit of Wifi. Service is not the best.
- Ciaran HennessyJanuary 7, 2018Pretty Good. Huge servings and great service. Definitely worth a drop into.
- Paul CaplesFebruary 26, 2011Quirky styled cafe, order from the counter, big tasty servings (ask for kids portions if needed they'll oblige)
- Go see James, Marty, Justin and the team at Fat Dog for the best coffee and service in Rotorua! They do great offers via their Facebook page. Read more
- Annabelle McMillanSeptember 7, 2015Tragically 90s but still cute. Wifi available. Veggie burger more like a stack than a burger (kind of scary!!) - ask for no aioli/mayo sauce to make vegan.
- Steve BurtonApril 26, 2013Ordered pork belly on risotto, the pork was burnt and chewy and the risotto was awash with surplus water. The worst part they wanted $28 for it. Good for lunch, but avoid for an evening meal!
- The muffins and scones here are just superb! Large and flavourfull!
- Jasmine HwehFebruary 6, 2011Food is great customer service not so much but is worth it to grin and bear it :p
- Lyndon GerversJuly 1, 2012Big servings but tast is just ok great if you a Hungary. Service very quick even if they r busy
- Lee DavisJanuary 14, 2013Big portions. OK food. Our scrambled eggs were watery, but tasted ok. There's better places in Rotorua
- Lawrence MikkelsenJune 4, 2011Good coffee but food had gone downhill since our last visit. Big breakfast was bland and uninspiring, and my poached eggs were solid, not runny. Disappointing.
- Geoff DevereuxNovember 8, 2014This place is trading on the past reputation. The food was poorly prepared with little love. The decor has had no attention in 10 years since the theme for the fat dog was set. Shame. It was so good.
- Nick ClarkeAugust 18, 2011Gah! Terrible overextracted bitter coffee even after sending it back, staff don't care, burnt garlic bread.
- Someone needs to edit this location... it's Rotorua not Rotarua
- Heidi ASeptember 22, 2012I used to love Fatdog, but very disappointed this time. The seafood chowder is full of cheap surimi. I'm pretty sure they put MSG in their soups. I got an instant headache, dry mouth, and dizziness.
- Emma BrownJune 2, 2013Really disappointing breakfasts. Just bland and no effort. It's like diner food. More imagination needed instead of such huge portions. Plus: Half an hour wait for coffee
- Francois BondiguelApril 6, 2012Average food, slow service and very expensive considering the quality... Disappointed!
