- AyiKwei PerryJanuary 4, 2016The view of the Caribbean Sea is awesome here from the cliff. I wouldn't pay for the guides as there are interpretive signs. Also, I would take public transportation to get there as it saves money.
- Tulum Living MxAugust 21, 2012Get there early. There is little to no shade and it can get very hot. The buses from Cancun and the cruise ships arrive around 10 or 11 and it begins to get crowded so getting their early is best!Upvoted Feb 4
- Srikanth KannanDecember 24, 2015If you don't know much about this place, do a walking tour with a local guide. It costed about 780 pesos for 2 and it was well worth it. It included the entrance fee and fast-track entry.
- StephanieJanuary 4, 2019Don’t bother buying souvenirs from the shops near the entrance. The items are similar to other places, only here they jack up the prices.
- Ben MorrowApril 29, 2020Awesome ruins overlooking the sea. Absolutely beautiful. Don't wait in line, there's an info booth by the tram stop that sells tickets so you can go straight in. Signs have English translations.
- CarolFebruary 4, 2020Breathtaking site to witness and learn about Mayan history, culture, and architecture. You will see the most beautiful sight of the ocean from here
- Charles BDecember 30, 2012worth the trip to see ruins in a setting like this. grab some bikes and head down the main road from town. make sure to get there as close to when it opens at 8 or don't go, the crowds get nuts at 9
- Paula MadeiraDecember 28, 2021It is amazing! Just make sure you arrive very early in the day, otherwise you will have to wait in a loooong line to get in (and very likely in a very hot sun)
- BogdanFebruary 8, 2015You can go directly from the ruins to a nice beach. It is pretty crowded though. There are a lot of iguanas. You can take a really close picture as they are not scared of people
- Anna RApril 23, 2015A must see when on the Yucatan.... great temples and get a sense how the Mayan lived. Bring a swimsuit to swim down on Paradise Beach
- Farina SadeghiFebruary 9, 2015You neeed to go here. The ruins are amazing, the beach is stunning, and the cenotes are unlike anything else. If you’re lucky like me, you might get engaged on the cliffs :)
- julian vzmNovember 20, 2016The ruins are awesome, there is a beach where you can swim, also you can see iguanas, coatis and a lot of birds.
- Javier Almeida JrJune 2, 2014Great place to visit, don't pay attention to anyone but the official information booth. Everyone tyres to sell you something. Just go straight and pay 20 pesos and the bus will take you there.
- Lina ArtistaMarch 29, 2021This place is a paradise for Mayan culture lovers. 😍 It has beautiful beaches and well-preserved ruins of an ancient Mayan port city.
- Bjarke KongstadDecember 2, 2014Bring water. It gets surprisingly hot for a place this close to the ocean. Also be prepared to wait a while for the damn iguanas to move so you can videotape them being interesting...
- Danny NathanDecember 20, 2014Well worth a wander but when people say "get there early" they mean EARLY. By 10am the place was packed with tour busses. Really took away from the enjoyment. It's small too.
- Klara LichtMay 26, 2013Stunning place with ruins right by the sea. Bring your swimsuit to swim like a Mayan looking at the temple. Also, there are many leguans who think you cannot see them. Let them believe that.
- Adam SchneiderNovember 26, 2015Get to the ruins first thing in the morning (before 8 am), to beat the onslaught of tourists. Then have breakfast at Zamas!
- Yanira RiosMay 1, 2016Bring your swimsuit and a towel because after exploring the ruins you can head down the stairs to a beautiful beach.
- Alex GronbachJanuary 8, 2017Definitely get a tour guide! Only a few bucks more than the ticket price, and we learned a lot with Esmeralda.
- Anna-Kim P. CornforthJune 9, 2013Get there at 8 am to avoid the crowd…its magic when there isn't so many people around… You will see lots of Iguanas :) 57 pesos la entrada (like all Mexico's Zonas arqueológicas managed by INHA)
- MariDecember 30, 2022As of December 2022, the crowds are insane. Also they no longer let you take the steps to the beach. Tulum has changed so much in the last 10 years.
- IrinaAugust 14, 2014The beach below is picture perfect. The water is amazing. The ruins are meticulously preserved. The setting is fantastical. ¡Bravo, Mexico, bravo! Exceptionally well done!
- Josh LOctober 13, 2020Site has finally reopened, but the stairway down to the beach is closed off due to coronavirus concerns. ⛔️
- Travel + LeisureSeptember 14, 2012Take in the carefully restored relics of a civilization that thrived in the 13th–15th centuries. The reconstructed temples are jaw-dropping—even from the distance imposed by the ropes that guard them.
- Megan AllisonMay 28, 2018Stunning place. Pro tip: pay for a private tour, and go right when it opens to avoid the heat and crowds.
- DON'T buy the ticket for the snorkeling in playa paraíso (paradise beach) in here, they are only the middleman and take a great commission, instead go to the beach and buy the tour right in the boat.
- naveenJuly 12, 2012make sure to find your way down the cliff to the beach; you'll need a jump in the water after a hot walk around the ruins
- Srikanth KannanDecember 24, 2015Entrance fee costs ~ $4 USD per person. Do a walking tour for about $400 pesos or $25 USD ( includes entrance fee + fast-track + shuttle). Walking tours do not accept cards. Pay in pesos to save.
- Léna Le RollandMay 25, 2017Such an amazing place! Be sure to check out the beach and careful with all the animals :)
- Joe DominguezMarch 22, 2012Open from 8 am to 5 pm daily, parking us$2.50 entrance us$4.25.Tulum is one of Mexico’s most scenic archaeological sites, built atop a 40-foot cliff rising abruptly from turquoise Caribbean waters.
- GregWasThereJanuary 2, 2015Amazing place. You can walk 10 mins from the entrance and avoid the train
- Petr KlikaMarch 17, 2022Go by bike! You can ride to the front of the entrance and skip all the souvenir shops etc (long walk from parking lot). In the middle of March afternoon almost no people. Not waiting times at all. 85$
- Karen A.December 16, 201357 pesos entrance. Drive in towards the hotel zone and bypass the main parking area and entrance if possible. The exit brings you close to this entrance!
- Trinity DevineNovember 9, 2013A little known area of Mayan ruins that should be visited by all archeology fanatics & the like!
- Andreas NellasDecember 20, 2015Vey well maintained park. Great view of the ocean. The beach is not as good as in front of the Tulum hotels.
- iHARAJune 1, 2017Beautiful place, historical and archaeological. The life with maia civilization! Unbelievable!!! ****
- Alisha TempletonOctober 16, 2013Arrive as close to 8am open as you can, before the tour busses arrive. Also bring a swimsuit, you'll want a dip to cool off.
- Violetts MdzaJune 16, 2016You should be there at 8am to enjoy the place in peace after 10am it gets very crowded, extremely =$
- SandeepSeptember 5, 2017Parking is a major rip off here. 10 usd to park for a few hours. You can find free parking around the area and just walk a short distance.
- AntónioFebruary 21, 2013Amazing Mayan city well restored. Don't miss a swing at the beautiful beach to the left of the "Castillo"

- Vipul PatelOctober 5, 2012Get there as early as possible and head straight through the ruins to the beach. Amazing before it gets crowded.
- Vladan StankovićMay 11, 2019Site is very interesting, but our guide was not that good. It seems to me that most of the guides here are not well prepared. If I were you, I would read up on Tulum in advance.
- Sandro Di SimplicioOctober 3, 2015A must see. Interesting, you breathe the feeling of living in that era
- Ferni RichieMay 25, 2015The history of this place is amazing... The view, the blue turquoise water BREATHTAKING ♡
- Lester R. OjedaSeptember 23, 2013Forget the hotel tours and waterpark nonsense, take an ADO bus here (US$20 round trip from Cancun) and pay general admission (US$5,7). Must see.
- Hany YoussefFebruary 15, 2017Great tour in Tulum to see the Mayan ruins, great location for pictures
