- PettranOctober 18, 2016Beautiful, efficient train station 👍🏼 Buy tickets in advance if possible, the lines can be long.. You will pass security for instance, think "airport" when calculating the time needed!Upvoted Feb 17
- Aidu FDecember 10, 2016Lovely station. Direct train to airport available. Free if you have a Renfe ticket. Just ask readily available officer at the machine how to get one.Upvoted Feb 8
- Ben MackeyApril 19, 2018Get here 30 minutes early. You have to pass bags though an X-ray and they check tickets before boarding instead of on the train. It might also take 10 minutes to walk to the correct train carriages.Upvoted 1 week ago
- Louis VuittonApril 5, 2012After a fire destroyed much of this station in the 1890s, architect Alberto de Palacio Elissagne collaborated with Gustave Eiffel to build the new structure with the wrought iron renewal style.Upvoted Jan 4
- I Wanna Go ThereAugust 4, 2011This is the main train station in Madrid. Catch a train to the main cities in Spain. You can ride the fastest train Europe. There is also a AMAZING botanic garden to relax the time you are waiting. Read more
- RAKANOctober 6, 2022Nice train station 🚉 cafes and restaurants available at the station ✨ try to get as early as you can to not miss your train during high seasons 🚂
- Torben Hvolmgaard SørensenApril 17, 2016Station among others for the fast train: Renfe Ave (arrival is brilliantly located separately from the departure). With good sign it's easy to navigate.
- Ann OsipovaJune 25, 2019Very cool idea of a tropical garden inside of the station, but unfortunately the plants are dusty and there is trash...
- Serg BaidaJanuary 14, 2020Railway station quite comfortable, there are locker rooms and a lot of different cafes and shops, but one thing will capture your attention - beautiful green oasis inside!
- Roger SchonfeldAugust 26, 2014Curiously, the original train shed has been turned into a gorgeous indoor park-like space. Worth giving yourself ten minutes to appreciate if pushing through.
- ElisaNovember 5, 2021Poorly designed. Ticket machines & departing gates depend on your destination & there’s no signage. Give yourself 45m to buy tickets last min, wear your runners- you’ll be running around frantically
- Purchasing ticket at the ticket office, be sure you check the waiting time :) using the machine is also the same, do that...it will safe your time
- ArdvaarkJune 9, 2017It can be hard to find the cab stand due to the poor signage. Go all the way up to street level, through the parking lot, and to the left.
- Sissi ChenDecember 20, 2014Exotic garden inside the main hall! And there are really a lot of turtles in the water!
- Alaa AlaqilyAugust 21, 2015They offered shops and restaurants... The place is really beautiful and the garden there so cute...you can see the turtles ...
- Evan WeinmanMarch 22, 2015A huge port that connects you to all parts of Madrid and different parts of Spain. Clean and easy to navigate.
- Tatee HassanNovember 28, 2014Get the city map, metro map from the information center. Taxis are plenty but be careful. The taxi driver I got was not honest. Short changed me and when asked for the difference, just drove off.
- Very big and nice station. If you want to go to Barcelona or Sevilla just take the AVE and in 2-3h you are at your village/ city/ town.
- Sandra KeceSeptember 18, 2016Lovely shops, restaurants and bars. Watch the TV monitors to find out what track your AVE train comes in, it is not on your ticket.
- Renee KoppelmansFebruary 1, 2015A bit confusing how to get to the right railway section and the roof in the main area is leaking so watch out that it doesn't drip on your head!
- Masha KroupskiOctober 4, 2015a great looking place. lots of turtles in the pond, and lots of weird esoteric stalls in the jungle.
- Jamie BarnardMarch 24, 2019Ticket machines are all old and don’t work. Trains are new. It’s a bit chaotic
- MatthiasSeptember 11, 2014Automated luggage storage located behind Aviary. After inserting your bags, you pay for the first day and get a coded ticket. There is a security guard with a security scanner for added protection.
- Roger SchonfeldAugust 25, 2014The ticket machines do not seem to accept US credit cards. Prepare to wait on line an hour to buy same-day tickets. Get a number for advance ticket sales: the wait for those is even longer.
- Ayda HMarch 28, 2015let´s do some work soryy madrid i don´t have much time to do sightseeing next timee on my way to valencia my beautifull cityyyyyy
- Max DDecember 10, 2021Worst navigation of all train stations, and it's huge. Allocate enough time to find anything here, which is incredibly hard.
- Andrew LitvakJune 29, 2018The security/boarding lines can be a nightmare. Get there at least 20min before your train leaves.
- Jonathan LuNovember 6, 2014Nice architecture. But the reservation process was sooo slow. We waited about an hour and half to get our ticket to Barcelona.
- Leo DW8RDecember 12, 2014Beautiful botanical garden inside the train station. Don't forget the turtles.
- DavidAugust 26, 2014A lot of space. Very well organized. Extremely convenient way to travel in Spain.
- Elena RassolenkoAugust 14, 2013Indeed, there is small Zoo with turtles in the centre of waiting area.
- Trains in Spain arrive and leave on scheduled time. Departure trains close the access 2 min before scheduled time. Don't be a lazy ass like me and arrive at least 30 minutes early, no refunds if late.
- Beautiful station with a relaxing botanical garden inside.
- KarimMarch 20, 2016Hard to find your way to your platform if you do not know Spanish. Not everyone speaks english in renfe customer service.
- MarkAugust 16, 2023There are no more lockers in the station. Close by 5 min you can store luggage (expensive). Bus & train to the airport leave here
- Magnus JernSeptember 1, 2015Love the gardens in the main hall. Food and service is a bit disappointing though.
- Anna EvsyukovaMay 20, 2014Alwais big lines for tickets, just use machines, they are multilinguistic. Although sometimes certain trains are not available through the machines.
- Too crazy for my taste. Two different floors, poor food offer (6.5€ for a Spanish omelette sandwich) and a bunch of people swarming around all lost. But the turtles are very cute.
- MaryMay 29, 2019There are free washrooms after security check, otherwise it is paid in the rest of the station.
- David John SimpsonAugust 28, 2018Allow extra time if on an intercity train to Barcelona / Zaragoza -- Atocha has airport style security gates! 👮🏻♂️
