Hike the biggest dune to see an amazing landscape. Rent a board in the last fuel station before the entrance to have fun and good sensations in the sand.

Bring closed shoes. Come early morning or late in the evening if you want to hike during Summer or else you will get feet burned in 115 degree sand. Careful with pets. Very hot on their feet.

Best time for photography is late afternoon or daly evening as the sun rises behind the dunes. Great camping lots, beware of plentiful deer!

Learn how these seemingly inexplicable dunes — North America’s tallest — came to be nestled up against the dramatic Sangre de Cristo mountains. Then go out and play on Colorado’s most unique “beach.”
