Magnificent! The precious art all over the world!Every minute you spend in this museum going to be-one in a life-experience,and you are always run out of time devouring every piece of art.A MUST SEE!
A place to visit, full of art and talent. You can spend a whole day at Rembrandt section. Don’t forget to sit and relax every 45mins. You will need it:)
A museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg, Russia. One of the largest and oldest museums in the world, founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great and has been open to the public since 1852.
You can spend days in it, if you do not have time take the shorttour, in 5 hours you can see beat known parts but not enough. One of the best Imperial Museums in the world!
If you’re in St. Petersburg you must visit the hermitage. Get a ticket in the self service machines (doesn’t allow for reduced tickets though) and save yourself for waiting on a long queue. Cost:700rb
Absolute luxury! The museum houses 3 million works of art! It used to be the Winter Palace and showcases well the lavish habits of Russia's royalty past.
The fabulous art n effects collection from all over the world!!! Fascinating. I could live there n devour every piece of art n objects displayed... Magnificent collection
Marvellous and extremely huge museum! Every painting has its own unique story! But please put on some airconditioning, it is getting very hot inside during the summer period!
Sine qua non for any human being. See it before your last breath. Story of mankind can be seen on the halls of this museum with extraordinary pieces of art. Booking tickets from internet is an advice.
At the entrance, they will ask you to pay an extra camera fee if they see you bring one. Just tell them you are not going to take pictures and put your camera in bag. Then, feel free for photos.
this is one of those museums everyone should visit once in a lifetime. for best experience go early morning or late afternoon/ evenings hermitage can be very packed and that really spoils the visit
If you speak any Russian and posses a discount card for any Russian 🇷🇺 shop chain, that's a good enough proof to claim yourself a Russian and get a discounted entrance at 400 RUR 😂
Wow! It’s worth for the building and decorations themselves. And it’s huge - we focused solely on the 2nd floor, and not covering all rooms, taking 2 hours.
The world’s 2nd largest museum. Great value but takes at least a full day. Don’t leave the upper floors of the General Staff Building to the end or you’ll need to rush past all the famous paintings.
There is good and fresh food in cafeteria (keep going if the first cafe don't have any table, and you will reach after a minute another one). I recommend sandwich with roast beef (350rub).
The Hermitage opens late on Wednesdays till 9 pm. Come between 6 & 9 in the evening if you want to leisurely peruse without having to jostle with crowds!
Avoid the massive lines by buying your tickets at the machines outside. Then, yes, walk right in. Must sees: early Picassos, Matisse's Dance, the Imperial rooms & the current Calatrava exhibit!
Winter palace is awesome. Museum has lots (LOTS!) of things but most texts are only in russian. They speak only russian and can't help you with anything. Not all buildings are included in the pass.
Amazing museum, prob best in the world. Get tickets online to avoid hour queue. Gold/Diamond collections entry require a guide, but they don't specify it's Russian only. Forced to get a translator.
We paid 2500 ruble for english guide aft turned down their 1st price of 3000. Well worth it as u get better picture of the museum as no english translation anywhere.
The most mysterious and elegant museum I've ever seen. Davinci paintings, micheal angelo statue and an amazing combination of western archtecture followed by oriental details.
It's as if the Louvre and Versailles have been merged; though have a good meal before you go - there's little food inside, especially for veggies, and you'll likely spend hours roaming the halls
First of World Museums via Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice 2013: «All of the world's beauty in one museum. It lets your mind travel to all the places and eras you always wanted to go.» Read more
No need to buy tickets in advance. Just buy with the machines and go to the left-most line. You will be inside in no time. Audio-guide return is only from the same place you take it
Book tickets online in advance - queues are massive, even during off-peak times. Once you have printed proof of purchase, cut the queue and go in - you still have to exchange it for tickets inside
Spend an afternoon in the unbelievably lavish former home of tsars and emperors. Don’t miss the Malachite room. It’s spectacular. For more local tips, follow us on 4sq or check out www.renhotels.com.
Probably the most wonderful gallery I have ever visited. Beautiful interiors, incredible views over the Neva and Palace Square and oh boy, what a collection!
The world's first public art museum, completed in 1787 by Catherine the Great, the Hermitage was originally home to the empress's private collection of Western European art.
