Fluying ✅December 7, 2015Totally underrated, this temple is a summary of Kyoto, a zen garden, a worship hall, a couple of tea ceremony rooms, a bamboo forest, a beautiful garden and two memorial halls. A totally must see.
- Rob MJanuary 28, 2017A Zen Garden temple isn’t complete without a bamboo forrest and Kodai-ji Temple does not disappoint. You can find the beautiful bamboo groove as you make your way up the path from the temple pond.
Lisa StarbucksApril 1, 2017Stunning! You pay a fee of 600 but it really worth it. The garden around the temple is kept to perfection (each stone is meant to be in its location). There is a also a small bamboo section. 🎋❤️

Less crowded, with an amazing garden and fascinating tea-houses.

龍March 17, 2016臨済宗建仁寺派の寺院で山号は鷲峰山、正しくは高台寿聖禅寺、開基は高台院。慶長11年 (1606年) 豊臣秀吉の菩提寺として北政所 (ねね) が開創。庭園は名勝・史跡。何度も火災に遭い、現在は表門、開山堂、霊屋と観月台、茶室の傘亭・時雨亭 (以上重要文化財) を残す。霊屋内部の須弥壇等に施された蒔絵文様は、「高台寺蒔絵」として有名。他にも蒔絵を多数所蔵することから「蒔絵の寺」の別称がある。
