- 龍February 9, 2014旧官幣大社で、祭神は桓武天皇と孝明天皇。明治28年 (1895年) 平安遷都1100年を記念して創建され、京都では一番大きな神社といわれる。10月22日の神幸祭は、時代祭として有名。大極殿や應天門、東西歩廊2棟・蒼龍楼・白虎楼は重要文化財に、額殿・斎館・神楽殿・大鳥居等は登録有形文化財に指定されている。
