- Go Find AliceAugust 15, 2017Pretty impressive collection of European art! No idea Hungarians are such talented artists! Make sure to go to the rooftop terrace - great views of the river and Pest!
- JoakMarch 29, 2017Amazing collection of Hungarian painting, mostly 19th century. It also hosts some of the Museum of Arts collection since this one is permanently closed until next year.
- Enzo MartinelliDecember 13, 2017Great colllection of Hungarian painting of all periods. A real pity the interiors of the Royal Palace are totally unrecognisable from their former glory
- Thomas CraenenAugust 9, 2015We initially visited the gallery to beat the heat on a very hot summers day. But were very impressed by the gallery's collection on Dutch and Flemmish masters. Definitely worth visiting.
- ThomasJanuary 6, 2020Super nice exebition. Both the permanent and the special exebition. Well curated, good storytelling. Fantastic spotlight on the pictures. We spent more than 4 hours taking in all the experiences.
- Lionel LimJune 19, 2018A museum with many pieces of art by European artists. The museum could do with a suggested route for visitors who do not purchase the audioguide.
- Yiannis PapasavvasJanuary 30, 2015On the Buda Castle area the Gallery hosts from modern to historic art. Allow a good 2 hrs just for this and maybe a whole day for the hill. Great specimens of Hungarian Art
- Hop Hey LalaleyDecember 26, 2015Amazing collection of Hungarian painters! You will also find here well known masterpieces of el Greco, Rafael, Titian etc. and very beautiful sculptures!
- Mette HøybyeJuly 23, 2018Worth a visit. Permanent collection gives a nice glimpse of historic Budapest life. Temporary exhibition of Frida Kahlo was excellent and moving
- David 🏁 B.October 20, 2016Great little gallery with enough diversity that won't bore visitors. The 19th–early 20th century section is the best. Spend your energy there and go for the baroque and gothic rooms afterwards.
- Anita ŚliwińskaSeptember 30, 2016Mainly Hungarian paintings, from time to time there are temporal exhibitions (better than permanent) - in September there was Modigliani. Nice service at the ticket counter but curators are very rude!
- Melinda Agnes MucsiOctober 5, 2012It was really awesome to see all the paintings I previously saw only in my history books back at school. The only drawback is the narrow range of the museum shop.
- KarineDecember 30, 2017The place is beautiful, great view. In the picture gallery is interesting only on the 3rd floor. The attitude of the employees is not polite, they always make comments.
- We Love BudapestOctober 5, 2012To quench your culture-thirst, head over to Buda Castle’s Hungarian National Gallery, where the largest public collection of Hungarian fine arts is exhibited.
- Alex CurielNovember 2, 2023Stunning collection of paintings ranging from around the renaissance all the way up to contemporary art.
- Priya TungrusJune 5, 2016A huge selection of mainly Hungarian art. You can pay extra to go up to the dome.
- Joyce ChiaNovember 24, 2013Great baby facilities and the best I've seen so far. Staff is extremely friendly and speaks good English.
- Bane JovancevicNovember 29, 2013Interesting building-totally diferent in from outside. Best thing is GameOfThrons looking sculpture just beneath the dome-sick!
- Saba HeraviJune 19, 2017Great museum. The temporary exhibition was Baselitz work and was truly amazing.
- Roy AbbinkMay 28, 2012Really large gallery. There are too much paintings and statues. It's hard to do
- Rica BelleNovember 3, 2011If you are into Hungarian art then this is the place to find it. Not much other artists here.
- Veljanova🦊July 4, 2016Officially the gallery works till 18:00, but by 17:30 already all ask to leave. Therefore it is up to 17.00 better to walk that to manage to look at all.
