A very cool place, and great for people watching (especially seeing young monks and nuns acting like tourists). A must-see while in Yangon, even if you have temple fatigue like I do.

A must-see in Yangon. Stick around to After sunset to watch the candle lighting on the North side. Foreigners are charged 8000 kyat to enter. Be careful after rains as the grounds get very slippery!

The trip to the pagoda can be expensive but if you want to go without paying the foreigner ticket price just wait by the main entrance and ask or buy one of the tickets from a traveller leaving.

Good for evening visits. Not ideal to visit in the afternoon, unless u want to experience hot tiles against ur bare feet. Take ur shoes along with u if u plan to enter/leave fr a different entrance.
