弁天島と呼称される島は全国に点在する。そのうちの一つです。温泉が湧いていたり、潮干狩りができるなど、レジャー関係が盛ん。なお弁天島から南の方向に見える鳥居は単なる飾りで、厳島神社のような歴史的な建造物ではないそうです。
