It takes 3+ hours to cross the border around Chinese New Year, if you're getting a van to the airport make sure you leave extra early to avoid the holiday traffic.

Generally the Hong Kong side is much slower than the Chinese side in both directions. More agents, a line for those with young kids, and those who a not Chinese nationals would speed the process.

Be sure to exchange your RMB to HKD on Shenzhen side (booths outside the terminal) - failed to find any currency exchange booths after passing HK customs clearance.

Sometimes it even saves more time if you choose to apply for epass out of improvise rather than choosing to go through 5he long queue. The time for application is shorter, especially during weekend.

Slightly cumbersome since the China side changed the process. Must go inside now. Leaving China not bad - the luggage can stay in the car. Entering China.. the luggage has to come inside with you.

RUNNING LATE: Take the Cross-Border busses to arteries like MongKok/TST/CausewayBay as their frequency is better, HongKong side use the MTR.

Most convenient and fastest way to go to HK airport from Panyu! Take CTS Bus from Panyu Hotel they take you through immigration in a Limousine, skipping all the lines.

To go to the airport - take the collective taxi 🚕 tickets are sold outside, to the left of the entrance (small kiosk with lots of words in Chinese)

Some officers take too long to check the passport for foreigners. Sometimes is fast and sometimes extremely slow.. Sometimes there is no special queue for foreigners.

Once at China immigration, try taking the Chinese national lanes. It's faster but take the risk of not being entertained by the officer and be asked to queue at the foreigners lane.

Be ready to wait if you’re a foreigner, it’s not nearly as efficient as the airports.
