If you're looking for an airplane spotting location, take the AirTrain to the Rental Car Center, then go to the last parking level and walk straight to the east! You'll be just ahead of RWY10L! =)
Aviation museum and library is super quiet, has loads of outlets for electricity, and is totally deserted. Check it out! Next to G91-G102 security check point
Best place to sleep is gates 60-69. They have these 10 ft long ottoman type things. Slightly squishy. You can actually stretch out! Only a couple per gate, so hurry and claim yours for the night!
For the international terminal A. The best food (Mexican / mission) is before the security. Once inside the terminal, there are only few options: Grocery SF style cafe, Japanese, Vietnamese,
Make your flight a Happy One by reflecting on how lucky we are to live in such a time to get anywhere we want quickly. Long time since horse n buggy days (Feeling better about your flight already eh?)
Pro-tip: It's not the number of people in the security line it's the number of bags. Put your small stuff in your first bin so you can grab it while your others come out.
I appreciate the design of the waiting areas near the gates. Makes you feel like you’re waiting in a nouveau coffee house. Different size and textured chairs, tables and outlets help ease the wait.
I frequently fly in and out of terminal 1, which is regularly hectic. A quiet place to get away is the hallway between terminals 1 and 2. Lots of seating and rarely many people around.
If you are using the Precheck or United elite line in Terminal 3 its faster to exit BART from the front and walk through the international than take Airtrain
Top Dining Options: PIQ, Terminal ; Ebisu, International Terminal, Boarding Area G; Burger Joint, Terminal 2, near Gate 58B; Yankee Pier, Terminal 3, near Gate 72; Cat Cora's Kitchen, by Gate 55. Read more
Very wellorganizedairport with good restaurants, A LOT of options to sit and relax while you wait (besides the lounges) and a great view.. Have a nice flight :)
If you have a lot of time to kill: the passageway between terminals 1 and 2 (past security, head towards the yoga room) has couches you can lie down on, outlets, and a much quieter vibe.
The airside connection hallway between terminal 1 and 2 is the best place to relax and watch planes before your flight - low traffic and way less crowded than a lounge.
With terminal 3 renovation, this airport became one of the best. TSA is super efficient and many real good dining and coffee options in both terminal 2 and 3.
For parking, I really liked parkSFO. Very convenient. It is usually 15-17$ a day. But they have coupons on the website, 2 days free on 4 days. Makes it very reasonable as compared to the other lots.
International terminal is by far one of the most pleasant of any US airport with pleasant design, efficient check-ins, somewhat polite TSA and healthy F&B options. Also love the exhibitions!
The new Harvey Milk area (B gates) is beautiful and functional and full of light and makes our sad San Diego Terminal 1 look even sadder. Love the variety of seating and charging options.
Terminal 1 is beautiful and full of water refill stations (hot and cold!), bathrooms are plentiful with many food options! American leave extra time. It’s a good 5-10min walk to the far B gates 20+.
Flying United domestic?? To save a ton of time...use International Terminal left side security check-in. Shorter line and it connects to United domestic to the right past security.
If traveling alone & flying out of the Intl Term or T3, BART from SF is a pretty good option. Takes <30 mins, drops you off right at security for Intl Term G, and costs $9.15 w/ Clipper from SF
The SFO airportMuseum is the first of its kind in an international airport with ever-changing exhibitions. Check out the superb displays located throughout the airport.
There's so much to do here: museum, exhibits, a BART station, a MOMA gift shop — you don't even have to be catching a flight to see any of it. Just go hang out one day.
don't forget to grab an Anchor Steambeer before you leave San Francisco. Brewed locally since 1896, this is up there w sourdough bread & Ghiradelli when it comes to "must haves" when you're here
Did you know that about 40.000 different items, including headphones, blankets, magazines, beverages and meals, are loaded onto a Lufthansa A380 for every single flight?
If your gate is between 20 to 38, you have to try out Max's eatz and fresh bakery. Usually I hate airport food, but their pastramiRubens is very delicious.
Modern & cleanest airportbathrooms you’ll ever see! I wouldn’t have a meal inside a bathroom but if I had to, I would definitely prefer one at SFO than any other airport. 😂
Fav airport. In T2 Cat Cora is best. Int G has quick sushi on left toward end that isn't bad. Of course there's wifi. Approaches can be a little bumpy when the fog is moving fast but you'll be fine :)
Stop by new Three Twins kiosk in the Delta gates area. Their ice cream is exceptional but the surprise is the made-to-order crepes...easily one of the best foods at SFO!
Don't check bags, Uber a car as soon as you land and have them pick you up at Departures vs Arrivals. You get to avoid going downstairs/baggage claim = you're on the road 3 mins after you deplane.
It's really worth it to check out the artexhibits in Terminal 3 on way to outer gates especially like the Recology exhibit there 2013 - artists using found objects from waste dump. Awesome.
Nice airport, the biggest issue seems to be that ANY flights get delayed. If it so much as drizzles here they shut down to one runway which then jacks up all of the flights, and it drizzles a lot!
It is cold for me inside of the airport haha, otherwise it is awesome here, good public transportation system right in the airport, easy to go around everywhere and it equips airtran between terminals
Take the tram to Terminal 3. United hub has been all redone and great resturants while you wait. Near gate 62 is Urban Tortilla. Tacos as good as they get. 3 domestic terminals and 2 international.
A very spaciousairport with so many options for food and drinks. Very clean and is serviced very well. You can even get here straight using the Bart train for only 9 dollars!
Never angry when I’m stuck at SFO— great food and drinks. Comfortable. Not ugly. Have always been able to show up 35 minutes before a flight and breeze through security (domestic)
