- Carl GieringerApril 6, 2014Breathtaking! Linger behind your group out of the mangroves. Your paddles and kayak light up the water and fish swimming nearby are like lazy lightning through the water..to the tune of chirping coqui
- Peter S. GreenbergFebruary 29, 2012Go kayaking in Misquito Bay at night where the water it is completely lit up by living organisms underneath. Read more to find out other great locations to experience bioluminescence to the fullest! Read more
- Brian ChaseMay 20, 2015Don't worry about bringing a camera. It is almost impossible to take photos of the bioluminescence. Instead, use your time instead to tour around the bay to find the best places to see the phenomena
- Edgar MuentesJune 15, 2016Last time w/ the same guides, had a great time. This time, bioluminesence was significantly diminished & boarding our kayaks meant wading in sludge. Would have been tolerable had I known in advance.
- Ashley KingJune 16, 2015The dinoflagellates and stars are amazing. That is 10-15 min of the 2+ hrs. You don't go that far, it's just dark and chaotic paddling through the canal. I'd spend the $ for a private group next time.
- Laura TalarowskiApril 15, 2013Use KPR!!! Everything else is stupid. Great tour guides!! So friendly & the most beautiful thing you will do in your life. Tip your guides well!! They deserve it. (Especially Lucas, he's cute & single
- Andrew HogueMay 26, 2015IO Puerto Rico Eco Tours is an amazing guide. Much funnier and more engaging than the other tours. No web site, but 787-616-9594 or (787) 613- 3928 or email them at ioprecotour@gmail.com
- Andrew HogueMay 24, 2015Try to get a departure just before low tide. Paddling is much easier, and the bioluminescence will follow you out through the mangroves towards the ocean when you're done.
- Terry RomanoJuly 8, 2013This is very cool. Take the kids and go late at night, It is very dark and a lot of paddling but you can do it. Great experience. Where water shoes and a swim suit.
- FoodiesprFebruary 9, 2016Part Of The Top 5 List on The things to do at the Foodiespr App, check it if you are planning your trip to Puerto Rico.
- ᴡ mcgeeSeptember 22, 2014bring extra set of clothes & shoes (shoes & bottoms will get wet). FYI: mosquito spray, kayak pile ups, single file line, stay on right, watch out for mangroves smacking your face, strong arms!
- jef McClimansNovember 22, 2014Totally worth it. Prepare yourself to paddle as a team through a dark narrow inlet with only the light of the kayak ahead of you to guide you.
- Melody EwingMay 28, 2011Do an earlier tour so you can see the mangroves and also have a better sense of direction navigating through the narrow lagoon. It will be dark on the way back so you get two vantage points.
- Eric FriedmanMay 30, 2015Say hello to the chill Puerto Rican dogs hanging out at the beach right before your mind is blown from seeing the glowing awesomeness in the bay!
- Eileen CotterMarch 6, 2014Must do if you're within 50 miles of Fajardo. Such an indescribable phenomena, water glows like a leaky glow stick when disturbed!
- Sheba KunhimohammedMay 12, 2012Use lots of bug spray. Relax , the water while passing through the mangroves is only two feet deep. It doesn't sound scary kayaking at night once you know that :-)
- Chris GibsonSeptember 23, 2014Definitely recommend Kayaking Puerto Rico. Try to come when there's a new moon.
- Ebrahim BandookwalaMarch 12, 2018Always fun ! The ride there is as much fun as the bioluminescent algae ! A must do while in PR!
- ᴡ RosarioSeptember 5, 2014A must do if you are on vacation. Book early, it gets crowded. Excellent experience!
- Angie GarciaJuly 3, 2013Go on the boat tour first before u kayak, you get a more in depth tour. Try bio island tours. Great ppl.
- David HoltzJanuary 19, 2016Guides were good and the lagoon was neat, but you have to be lucky to see the bioluminescence.
- Rory ParnessMay 23, 2015When you are in the open waters, head to the mangrove trees. It's dark and the plankton really shine
- Glenda McKinneyDecember 6, 2014Pure Adventure was a good kayak tour provider. Get an Ocean kayak if possible; they are a bit more stable.
- Connie WongMay 25, 2014If you go on the earlier tour (recommended) make sure you use bug spray; and then spray again
- Mai NortonMay 7, 2013Try to stay in either the front of the group or back to avoid kayak pile ups in the mangroves, you are not "really" allowed to swim in the bay but if you do it quietly they will not say anything.
- Umair JavaidDecember 12, 2015This is a must for everyone! Definitely a unique and extraordinary experience.
- Rosa💛 {Loly07}May 2, 2014Kayak sounds scary but in a group sounds nice, it was kind of scary cause in straight up dark but this is an experience of a lifetime
- FaithMarch 7, 2013Once in the bay, dip your oar in real deep and swish it around to really get thay bioluminscent glow, so cool.
- Stevan MartiniJune 5, 2014Chose and experienced kayak rental and tour company for the best experience.
- Nico ParkerFebruary 15, 2019This is easily one of the coolest places I have ever been. The water is beautiful.
- Jonathan MoroApril 15, 2017Cool experience but don't think that the entire water flows. It's like looking at firefly.
- Denise SeïfNovember 20, 2018Never go out when the 🌙 is beaming, u won’t see anything unless they cover u with a tarp. The whole bioluminescent experience is about 5 min the rest of the 2 hrs is slow kayaking
- Allison HaynSeptember 4, 2011Put bug spray all over and esp on the bottoms of your feet!! I won't post pics of my bug bites...but the trip is incredible!
- Garick ChanSeptember 24, 2012If you enjoyed the trip and experience great service, remember to show your appreciation with a tip. :D
- Tony LandaApril 27, 2014Teamwork is important in the kayaks. Person in the back, try to synchronize. And practice breaking and back-paddling.
- Sandra D.March 23, 2013I don't understand how they allow motor boats in the lagoon. They're just degrading this natural environment in exchange for money from "tours".
