- Visit GentOctober 28, 2013Ghent’s oldest building is the Castle of the Counts. Nowhere else in the world will you find such a massive castle right in the heart of the city. Go back in time. #visitgent
- This is not the oldest building of Ghent ! What you see is a 19th Century "romantic" reconstruction of the original, of which only ruins were left at that time. Worth a visit nonetheless !Upvoted 1 week ago
- Visit GentJuly 18, 2014The Castle is included in City Card Gent (so are all the main attractions, museums, a boat trip and use of De Lijn bus & tram) It's a good deal. Available here and at Visit Gent, hotels & De Lijn Read more
- Very nice place - both for children and adults. The tour takes around 30-60 minutes, depending on how much you choose to read. The top of the castle gives an impressive overview of a beatiful city.
- Johnny KoutiolasJanuary 9, 2019Beautiful both on the inside and the outside. The 10€ ticket allows for audio guide that takes you through the history about the castle itself and life in it.
- Arno SonnevilleFebruary 27, 2016When you visit Ghent you have to visit this beautiful castle. Nice view at the top and very interesting to discover everything.
- Nate MeltonDecember 19, 2013This tour isn't free, but an easy walk through the castle interior, spires, ramparts, & dungeon. There's a room dedicated to the history of torture as well.
- Cenker KöseMarch 17, 2016Its much more amazing during the sunset time. Take a boat trip and be ready to take insta shots It's is a guarantee to collect 100 likes :)
- Lincy TynckeNovember 29, 2015Nice place to visit. You get a good view from Ghent and learn the history in the same time. Especially the torture rooms are worth a visit.
- meganNovember 30, 2014Eh if you've been to other castles in Europe, this won't blow your socks off. If you haven't - nevermind it's amazing!
- Robin BertelsAugust 18, 2014Built in the 12th century by count Philip of Alsace, served as the seat of the Counts of Flanders, a courthouse, a prison and a cotton plant. Nice collection of torture instruments inside.
- Akgün GÜNGÖRENSeptember 20, 2017The castle is fascinating from the outside, but there was lack of information. There was a torture part of the castle and you can see the materials which they have used for torturing people.
- Ioannis PapapetrouApril 13, 2015It worth to have a tour in the only castle so big in the center of any town in Europe...
- Visit GentMarch 20, 2014Banners floating in the breeze atop the castle walls, a sinister torture room, gleaming armory... You will have no trouble imagining BBC's prestigious drama series 'The White Queen' come alive.
- Chris HippeMarch 9, 2015One of the most beautiful castle I've ever seen. The torture expedition isn't 10 € worth. But the whole castle itself is really nice.
- JosephineAugust 17, 2015Definitely worth a visit! Come hour before closing time otherwise you don't get in!
- 4sq SUs BelgiumApril 28, 2016Built in 1180 by count Philip of Alsace, the "Castle of the Counts" was the seat of the Counts of Flanders until the 14th century.
- Tourist Information Center - Visit GentMarch 20, 2014Banners floating atop the castle walls in the breeze, a sinister torture room and an impressive armory. Small wonder BBC's 15th century drama series 'The White Queen' was shot here.
- Ebru DalgakıranOctober 15, 2012The name Gravensteen means "castle of the count". The panorama of Gent can be seen best on the top of the castle.
- Di KadyrovaMay 7, 2017It looks better from outside than from inside - not worth spending €10 on the entry ticket
- No longer free for inhabitants of Ghent, except on Sundays from 10am to 1pm.
- Les Auberges de JeunesseDecember 20, 2011Very interesting medieval castle ! Don't miss the torture room :-)
- Visit GentMarch 27, 2012‘I’ll show them who’s boss’: that’s what Philip of Alsace had in mind. So he had the imposing castle rebuilt (1180).
- Joachim CoppensSeptember 21, 2010Free entrance if you're from Ghent, just show your passport at the entrance! It's worth a visit.
