- Fried Hokkien Mee. Serangoon Garden Fried Hokkien Noodle 01-52 serves the real deal. Wet & aromatic. Whole prawns. Slices of squid & boiled pork. Punchy chilli sauce. Crunchy fried pork lard cubes
- Bak Chor Mee. 大巴窑5巷肉脞面 #01-39. What struck me instantly was the fragrant mushroom stew. Full of goodness. The noodles were also tasty. Their smallest serving $3.50 comes with a slice of abalone
- Chai tow kway (fried carrot cake). Lee Ta #01-67 & Good Luck BBQ #01-13. Both stalls serve tasty CTK. LT is old skool with notable chai por (chopped fermented radish). GL is yummy fr 1st mouth
- Kway chap. Enjoyed an aromatic bowl bowl fr Guan Kee #01-24. This is a 1-person serving ($3.50) —all items in a single bowl. If u want ala carte items served on a plate, prices start from $5.50
- Mee hoon kway. Enjoyed a unique bowl of dried noodles from Seletar Sheng Mian Mee Hoon Kway #01-05. Always long but fast-clearing queues
- Derrick HuangAugust 10, 2013Guan Kee Kway Chap is my best kway chap that i ever try. They kway chap is smooth & cue cue plus hot.
- Prata. Toa Payoh Prata Corner #01-62 prepares decent pratas. Crispy & flaky on the outside, chewy inside. Order the plain "kosong" ones (with mutton curry) to fully enjoy its flavour & fragrance
- Shun Li Prawn Noodles(#01-36), Serangoon Garden Fried Prawn Noodles(#01-19), Shen Pin Xiang BBQ(#01-70), Hai Kee Seafood(#01-18), Zheng Xing Fried Kway Teow Mee(#01-35) highly recommended!
- Breakfast bee hoon. Fried chicken wing from Yong Xing Fried Bee Hoon Nasi Lemak #01-17 was deliciously marinated. Chilli sauce was good too!
- Wantan mee. Hougang Meng Kee #01-49 gets queues in the morning. It's 1 of the better breakfast spots. Noodles were 'q', wantans tasty. But methinks their sister branch near Kim Keat Food Ctr is better
- Vegetarian options: lontong, chai tow kway, popiah, rojak, specialty vegetarian, local desserts, beancurd, fruits, local pancake, yutiao, chee cheong fun, soon kueh, prata, putu mayam, tahu goreng
- Lor mee fr #01-54 is decent although I wish they could be more generous with their ingredients. U can swap fried fish with popcorn chicken, or hv both!
- Jeffrey AwOctober 21, 2013Sin Sin Prawn Crackers #01-46 very good. The beehoon is delicately done and piping hot with all the 5 Xiang freshly fried. I love it and sometimes have a queue.
- Chendol. Ice cold dessert from Four Seasons #01-07 was enjoyable on a hot day. However, towards the end, got ‘jelak’ of the brown sugar; it was too thick & sweet
- Craving prawn noodles for breakfast? Neighbours head to Heng Kee #01-40, since the more popular (& nearby) Shun Li is not open yet. Average though. Smaller $3 serving is mainly sliced pork & fishcakes
- Wanton mee. Hai Kee #01-59 has probably the biggest serving of vege I've ever come across (although) it's a weird mix of green cabbage & 'chai sim' (Chinese cabbage)
- Hainanese curry rice. Scissors Cut Curry Rice 01-28 is popular during lunch. Curry is decent but one dimensional. Pork chop tastes home-style. Cabbage could be stewed softer
- TingNovember 11, 2016A lot of food options that's typical of hawker centers and repetitive stalls selling similar fare, yet many are good. The fried white beehoon with clams and cendol r just some of the highlights.
- Uemoto YoheiJuly 17, 2013During staying in Singapore, I used going there to have supper alone. Every shop has delicious food, especially popiah, carrot cake.
- Pancakes. Mei Wei Pan Cake #01-21 makes them slightly thinner, so that it's crispier. The pancakes are also individually prepared
- Lifestyle Tip: This is the only market/hawker centre area that offers you a true blue 1970s alfresco/outdoors dining experience (before PAP takes over, of course). Eat 'out' please! Best on wkends.
- Char kway teow. Nothing outstanding abt dish fr Zheng Xing #01-35, despite them displaying an LED queue system. Preparation is the dry salty style, & lacks "wok hei" despite preparing so many plates
- Was this place fill with fantastic stalls. Go look for the queues and the longer the better!
- Tried the kway chap at #01-24. No internal organs for me but still delicious
- A hearty century egg minced meat porridge for breakfast to have a great start of the day!
- Jasmine PangOctober 19, 2014Hawker centre with a variety of good & cheap food eg prawn noodles, teochew porridge, yong tau hu :)
- Try the Lor Mee next to the economic bee hoon stall. Sells porridge in the day and Lor Mee at night.
- Si Ning NgOctober 25, 2011Serangoon Garden Fried Prawn Noodle is delicious! Nicely cooked, and ingredients are very fresh!
- Elizabeth LeeAugust 31, 2016Take your pick of bfast stalls here. There was a crazy queue for the kway chap too.
- Still one of the cheapest hawker centre for a simple meal . The iced coffee is average $1.20 here 👍
- Good Stalls Tip: 福记Braised Duck Rice 7.5/10, Bedok Bak Kut Prawn Mee 9/10, Behind New World Fried Hokkien Mee (opens 8pm daily) 8.5/10, Bedok Bak Chor Mee 8/10
- Decent pan fried dumplings here ! Prepared on the spot by 2 Chinese ladies 😊😊😊
- The food at the hawker centre part was nice, the stall vendors at the wet market are friendly and kind
- LLLOctober 27, 2015Very stuck up roti prata stall. Not friendly at all. Didn't sell one piece plan prata as I only can eat one. Ended up bought 2 piece mixture but beh song to give me 2 plate. WTH!!!
- Durian Tip: Fat Balding Uncle's make-shift stall gives better quality than anywhere else in Singapore. Be nice to him and u'll get discounts. Forget the corner shopfront... unless u like cheap durians
- StellaSoonKueh ♥August 18, 2013Oh, there is selegie branch here. YAY! Lovr the almond beancurd, normal beancurd w soya milk and bundong soya milk.
- Healthier Choice Tip: Remember ur 2+2? 2 portions of veges + 2 portions of fruits. Take ur cheapest and freshest Cut Fruits and/or Fruit Juice from only stall inside the market.
- MazAugust 9, 2010The curry rice at the coffeeshop here is real yummy! Best thing is, this place is open on a public holiday too!
- Groceries. There's a popular Sheng Siong Supermarket across the road @ Block 4 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh #01-107
- Joanna PhuaJanuary 4, 2012B FOR BEANCURD store can compete with the tau huay from old airport rd! MUST TRY!
