The new concorde and mezzanine level make travelling from King's Cross so much more pleasant. There are tables and chairs on the mezzanine level that are free to use without buying anything.

Cavernous station with a long maze of tunnels. If you need lifts, make sure you check the maps - there are 12 lifts and you will need at least 3 to get to the platforms.

When you arrive on the Eurostar, don't queue at the first underground ticket machines you find. Machines to the left of the barriers to the Met, Circle and H&C lines are always free.

For such a massive station it's easy to use and change between underground lines, can't say so much for the main station.

The Pentonville Road entrance is only open Monday to Friday 07:00 to 20:00. This was once the ticket office of the now disused King's Cross Thameslink railway station.

If you are traveling north on the Victoria Line and need to change to Northern, make sure you walk to the end of the Victoria line platform, there is a small passage that leads to the Northern line!

Love commuters who don't want the Met Line Tube but stand there right in the doorway regardless. A little courtesy and common sense please?

If you've a few minutes to spare, check out the skip garden. It's currently behind the Great Northern Hotel (the one being renovated behind the station). Nice bit of urban gardening. Read more

Most Tube stations within zones 1 to 4 have virgin WiFi. It's free for virgin customers, it just makes getting virgin media or a virgin mobile tariff more viable.

Northern Line users changing to circle/ham/met lines, don't follow the interchange signs (current route takes ages), instead head to the front of the southbound platform and take the emergency stairs.
