11 November: Remember the Glorious Dead. The monument was designed in Portland stone by the imperial architect Lutyens & finished in 1920. It is a Grade I-listed structure & bears little decoration.

It isn't every day you get to stand at barriers positioned around the cenotaph and see our Prime Minister David Cameron walk past you and upto this war memorial :D It could happen for you others too.

Sir Edwin Lutyens memorial of Portland Stone to the war dead was unveiled in 1920. Its name means ‘empty tomb’, from the Greek kenos (empty) and taphos (tomb).
