Genuinely historic site, of a great thinker's very personal home. They have special tours that include the upper floor, but you have to book those well in advance. Guides are great.

Beautiful area. Nearly 100* the day we were there and tents were set up to help keep the sun off of us while they allowed small groups of people to go through the house in keeping with COVID mandates.

Always a beautiful historic site. Get your tickets early for tours or try to reserve online ahead of time. You can walk around the outside without a tour but can't go inside. Lots to see.

Thomas Jefferson was a genius and a great American. He funded his own Presidential staff and purchased his own furniture. This non-profit organization receives no government funding for preservation.

Monticello makes us think about the contradiction of a slave holder proclaiming that "all *men* are created equal." It provokes thought about social, political, & architectural ideas, & times gone by.
