KaitlinAugust 20, 2018Smaller, quieter, and newer than the downtown original, but still overflowing with books, great staff recommendations, and sales! (And though smaller than the original, it’s still bigger than a B&N!)
Olivia BlackJanuary 8, 2018You can't NOT love a book shop. But Powell's is always well organized, this particular location has a huge section tucked in the back with tables for studies, and another for kids, definitely a plus!
If you're looking for a book on nearly ANY subject, one of the Powell's locations will have it. This is a mid-sized one compared to Burnside, but still an awesome selection of books, magazines, etc.
Roxy RooMay 16, 2012The T shirts based off of classic books are durable and attractive. Some proceeds go to books for African children. The violet candies are not to be missed. Check out the cute trinkets and Escher toy.
Bree BMarch 3, 2013There are hand carts if you are there to sell multiple boxes of books. All you need to do is drop off your ID with the buyer person and grab a cart - no need to wait in line either.

An employee here also owns a coffee shop just up the street on 185th & Walker. Java Mama. Come check out her homemade goodies including marionberry muffins and boiled & baked bagels!!
Not as busy as the downtown location, which makes for lazy day browsing awesome.
