Smaller, quieter, and newer than the downtown original, but still overflowing with books, great staff recommendations, and sales! (And though smaller than the original, it’s still bigger than a B&N!)
You can't NOT love a book shop. But Powell's is always wellorganized, this particular location has a huge section tucked in the back with tables for studies, and another for kids, definitely a plus!
If you're looking for a book on nearly ANY subject, one of the Powell's locations will have it. This is a mid-sized one compared to Burnside, but still an awesome selection of books, magazines, etc.
The T shirts based off of classic books are durable and attractive. Some proceeds go to books for African children. The violet candies are not to be missed. Check out the cute trinkets and Escher toy.
There are hand carts if you are there to sell multiple boxes of books. All you need to do is drop off your ID with the buyer person and grab a cart - no need to wait in line either.
