Go on Friday at 7 for free admission. You can see quite a lot in 2 hours, even if you stop for a drink first. There's lovely live music at the café and the apricot mimosa is delicious.

The library is astonishing; found the 2 hidden staircase behind the secret door bookshelves. Look up at Edgar Allan Poe's iron-designed ceiling room with 650 birds, each one is unique.

I had a cappuccino in the coffee shop, it was illy and it was a proper coffee, nice and Strong. The gentleman that served us was really nice (I don’t know his name) it’s so much better than Starbucks.

Make sure you check out the secret staircases in the main library! Look for dolphin handles on the bookcases that flank the entrance. If you go during a tour they might open them up for you!

You can use your camera in most parts except special exhibitions. A pity that so many books are now locked away as display pieces. I doubt that many scholars will use them. Books should be read.

JP Morgan collected art treasures and rare manuscripts in his mansion with adjoining library. New architecture unifies the buildings and collections into a quietly awe-inspiring experience.

Don't miss the charming exhibit of Beatrix Potter's letters that inspired her Tales of Peter Rabbit and other books. Not only are the drawings a delight, Miss Potter's cheeky wit is a revelation.
