Want a decent coffee? Walk out of the doors near Burger King, turn right and head all the way round the concourse until you get to Laynes Espresso! Thank heaven for this place!
A nice station. The link between the south (London) and north (Edinburgh). Everything available at the station and the new electic gates are welcome.... As long as they work :/
There is a cash machine or ATM on the railside of the ticket barriers. Its on the footbridge, at the top of the escalater from pl.8 and hidden around the back of the lift.
There are very few free to use cycle racks in or near the station because there is The Cyclepoint. Secure, staffed, cycle parking for £1/day between 7am and 7pm. Also cycle hire and retail facilities.
Connects to most places you can think of. Very chilly even in summer. 6 million platforms. Quite busy. All in all, it's quite nice and serves it's purpose well.
The 757 bus the airport stop: go straight to the main exit, turn (obviously) left, and then left again round the corner and Queen's Hotel. Go straight 200 yards and you're there.
Just outside main entrance turn right and follow the road round. The Brewery Tap by Leeds Brewery & Laynes Espresso much better than Wetherspoons and Starbucks and still in walking distance of trains
Leeds 'free citybus' is no longer free. 50p a trip, or indeed free if you have a travel card. Don't make the mistake of walking straight on and wonder why the driver's shouting at you...
Don't fancy Wetherspoons in the station for a beer? Try Scarborough Hotel - outside the station, down the steps - right across the road. Excellent ale :)
Make sure yo have your ticket ready for the barriers! If you have a season pass, just go straight to the little man instead of trying (and failing) to use the barrier!
If the little ticket doors close on as you walk through, don't stop, just power through. You'll get a look from security but it'll make you feel like a boss.
Don't bother queuing by boots for a cash machine, walk down to sainsburys and McDonald's (easily under a minutes walk) and there's some there with little (or often no) queues!!
There's a Starbucks on the bridge inside the station and you get served a lot faster here than at the one on the main concourse. So if you're short of time...
Often the ticket barriers will reject advance tickets and claim they're not valid from this station (they are) you're better off just getting them to let you through to save the delay/hassle.
The travel/information centre doesn't take Visa Electron Debit cards so best to withdraw cash first rather than que up and be told to go to the machines after waiting in a line.
If you're going to Dewsbury and you miss the 18:06, the conductor will think your next train is at 18:25 but it's not. It's the Manchester Victoria on platform 13B at 18:13.
