Good connections but leave plenty of time to buy a ticket (or get one in advance). The M&S is good for shopping on the go.

If you're going to Birmingham New Street at almost all times of day a reservation is worthless as there are people standing from one end of the train to the other. At max the train is 3 carriages.

If you're travelling with a bike, avoid CrossCountry. Cycle space needs to be booked and is in the same space as prams and wheelchairs.Often better to travel via London to Midlands.

On the the 42 minutes pass train from Kings cross to Cambridge, wanting the 47 minutes pass train to Ipswich? Prepare to RUN when you arrive at Cambridge, trains normally on platform 6 or 5!

If your ticket to London says "London Terminals", that usually also includes Moorgate and Old Street. If you happen to be going there, you might be able to use the same ticket on the Underground!

Doesn’t make sense how the trains are ground level... this station would be a lot more efficient if the tracks were dug into the ground and the entire ground level was a lobby, shops, food....

TIP: book your cab 15mins before you arrive otherwise you'll be waiting ages in the cab queue with everyone else - half the train alights there

There are at least 3 AMT kiosks if there is a queue, including one on platform 7, so you don't have to carry your drink over the bridge

At peak times they open the side door by platforms 1,2 & 3 and the bus terminus! Use this as it's an awful lot quicker! :)

Cyclists take note that the new platforms that are meant to relieve congestion, also mean that for the first time since the station was built you may have to carry your bike over a footbridge

Please note. It doesn't matter what time it is or how busy the train is, someone will always turn up and try to wedge a bicycle on at the last minute.
