- David HudsonOctober 16, 2016Pork knuckle was great. Beer was great. Pretzels were the size of a small child. Be prepared to sit with strangers but that's part of the fun. Great experience and a must see if you're visiting.
- Alex ChiritescuDecember 30, 2017Tried the roasted pork chop and it was tasty, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Get sauerkraut with it, it is quite fat. Don't wait to be seated, just go and grab a seat. Very crowded.Upvoted 3 weeks ago
- Jake SmithJuly 6, 2015A must do once in your life (at least!). Get a pretzel from the pretzel girls, listen to the oompa band, order a schnitzel, and enjoy the beer (I loved the Dark Radler in particular).Upvoted Jan 26
- Brad HagerNovember 9, 2015Good place, yes it's touristy & loud but still fun. The pork knuckle, veal sausages & big pretzels are great. Dunkel beer is the BEST!! I do NOT recommend the apple strudel, MUCH better other places.
- Joey HernandezMay 19, 2017a must visit if you're in munich. the original! go on a friday or saturday evening to get a great experience. sit anywhere you can find a spot and order a gigantic beer. obatzda and sausages are great
- Алёнка ВасильеваNovember 15, 2021Definitely a MUST GO! 🥨🍺Try pretzels and white sausage -truly delicious!👍🏼At 18-00 Bavarian band starts playing live music so quite difficult to find places, come earlier. Amazing atmosphere!
- KatrinaNovember 8, 2014Best Pork Knuckle I've ever had with 1L Radler! Best combo. Friendly service. Lovely locals who helped me get service & order while we shared a communal table. Very busy. Large grp should book table.
- Nicole MillsNovember 20, 2023No trip to Münich is complete without a visit here! Find a spot amongst the many communal tables. The schweinshaxe is a firm favourite, but it’s best to share if you don’t have a big appetite!
- Jason Lai PmpMay 23, 20181st floor is much better and quieter, also with great Bavarian music playedSchweinhaxe is good here!Don't miss the Blaukraut as side dishTheir own-brewed Hofbräu Dunkel dark beer is AWESOME!
- Biliana RoussevaJanuary 4, 2015The best fish soup ever and the first time ever I saw so many people gathered at a single place! The way those guys work reminds a factory production - from the meals in line to the flying waiters!
- Tihana Ana R.April 3, 2016Among all historically significant details related to this place, the coolest thing is that there is a separate room with personalized beer glasses of some, so called, members of Hofbräuhaus.
- Yves DOctober 12, 2017Great beer! Very spatious place with good live music. Best ti spend the night in the center of Munich with friends or family. A little bit expensive but worthy 😉
- Dasha 👻 ShigaevaMay 4, 2016If you want to try bits of different things - go for cheese+meat platter, which is huge and delicious, rather than sausage one that has only 4 usual pieces. Weiss radler is awesome for non-beer lovers
- Ashleigh GardnerNovember 11, 2017Yes, very touristy, but in a charming way with great atmosphere. Centuries-old beer house with great service and good food. The main room is stunning!
- Aleksandr ZakusilovOctober 13, 2019Come in and realize you haven’t been in a beer place before. The best beer in the whole world. Sausages (all types) are a best pick, if you’re not a fan of German cuisine.
- Mark BJune 14, 2016Love this place. Food is good & you can't beat the atmosphere for a true Bavarian experience.Very crowded and may have to circle hall a few times to find seats.Don't be shy as you can share tables.
- Dimitris TzourisFebruary 28, 2015Must check this place out. Traditional Bavarian beer house with very good food and live music. The place is huge, but always very crowded and extremely noisy!
- Emma R*January 31, 2016An essencial in Munich. Bavarian tradition & history. Live music, funny place. Order a pretzel + some beers and shout "PROST!" when make a toast! Don't forget to go upstairs, at least to have a look!
- Marcia Baroni SmithNovember 7, 2015They might say this place is a tourist trap, but I had a great time: wonderful beer and food, fair price, decent service. Try blaukraut and a potato cake called knödel. 1st floor = no crowd.
- Stef BakJanuary 11, 2017Extraordinary beerhouse! The best i have ever seen! The beer is local, tastes really really good and is served in large quantities (0,5-1lt).The food is absolutely amazing!!!! Dedinitely worth visiting!
- Alexis MackFebruary 11, 2017Huge beer hall, always crowded and you share the table with completes strangers but that's part of the charm. A traditional band plays music and the food is great too. A must visit in Munich.
- Katerina KuvJanuary 21, 2017Trendy, nice Bavarian restaurant in Munich. Unspeakable atmosphere, get it classy. Join somebody, make a friends, try tasty food and delicious beer, listen amazing traditional music
- Francisca NachtApril 20, 2016Leave your hipster cool at the door and come in to have beer chugging singing fun! Order pork knuckle, obstler shots, pretzel, say prost, sing, drink and be merry. Tourist trap? Whatever! Fun!!
- EliaFebruary 4, 2017Very authentic restaurant! They have live music and the food is ok! It's a really big restaurant, a bit chaotic but cool! Visit is a must
- Alexandros StamatelatosJanuary 20, 2017The beer is better than other places or beer-gardens in town. The atmosphere is very "Bavarish" and also they have live German Music played by a band
- Matt DermodySeptember 15, 2016An obvious tourist spot but still worth seeing. I suggest catching a beer there during the day and then heading to a less touristy Biergarten like the Augustiner at night.
- Francesco Paolo FumarolaJanuary 2, 2017Italians, Italians, lot of Italians (me included)! The brewery is huge and typical, need to find a quieter time to visit and really judge
- Javier SotoFebruary 4, 2017Orinal place! Liters of beer! Bavarian atmosphere with mix of local and tourist people. Traditional food! The place to be in Munich! 🍻
- Kerem AkbasliJuly 11, 2017Preferrably crispy pork belly and master steak👍🏻original HB beer..bitter taste ...atmosphere is authentic and traditional..always crowded..
- M KJuly 12, 2018First place in Munich we had dinner at. Seat yourself (you can ask other patrons to share their table when busy). They have English menus. As well be ready to order when they come.
- Social News NetworkDecember 3, 2013These people drink gallons of beer! They make Americans look like wimps. Great to visit during any World Cup. Amazing atmosphere of football fans. Everyone is friendly. Tip to Americans... Don't tip.
- Felipe GentilDecember 14, 2014The place is really nice, the dishes are delicious and so is the beer! But make sure your order has been made properly, I was fooled by a waiter for 40min and had to ask to another one for a pint.
- E.July 11, 2013After drinking the beer , u' ll understand that what the beer is! Meals are tasty and delicious! The stuffs are great! The music is traditional ! U' ll love it! The best place in Munich !
- Jane KellyAugust 28, 2017A brilliant Bavarian experience. The steins of beer and pork knuckle were a winner. Cracking band playing throughout the evening. A must visit when in Munich.
- One of the best restaurants in Munich. Sit downstairs in the "Schwemme" for the real Bavrian HB feeling, or go upstairs to the equally authentic, quieter restaurant. Same kitchen! All food is great
- Dakota MancillasOctober 17, 2018Be aware it is expensive here. Although I recommend the ruß’n to drink. It is a white beer with lemonade. Also don’t wait to be seated, you seat yourself where ever you want. ask for English menus
- Ishwarya VenkatachalamSeptember 10, 2018Don't be shy! Grab a table and the waiters will come to you. They take card here, but the pretzels that are carried around the room by the waitresses are cash only!
- personal favorites: hendl (either half with potato salad or quarter with a delicious salad), leberknödelsoup, haxn. get a side of reiberknödel! The apple strudel is a MUST for dessert - best Ever
- Enrico GennariAugust 16, 2013Huge beer hall, the must-go place when in Munich. Home for the world-famous beer HB, make sure you've spotted the toilets BEFORE you start drinking. Too bad there's always plenty of tourists...
- THe big Oktoberfest-style pretzels sold in the Schwemme by pretzl-girls are delicious. Kitchen is open till midnight or later, though a smaller menu is offered after 10pm. Get chicken and apfelstrudel
- Melissa ChinOctober 19, 2018Good atmosphere and great live band. Food is ok. The term crackling we thought meant crispy pork skin, which it was not. The schnitzel was not as crispy as expecting.
- Cris Cris CristinaMarch 22, 2019A must! Maybe seems like a tourist trap, but it is a nice experience to have a beer.
- Alejandra R. G.November 4, 2015Great place to eat and drink beer with a traditional environment. Be careful with the menu, you could have a great dinner o get disappointed. Anyway, enjoy!!
- Andrew BykovAugust 29, 2017Hands down the best beer place I've ever been. Beer, food, atmosphere - everything about is just unbelievable!
- The building itself is beautiful and they have a traditional band which makes for a nice atmosphere. Service isn't great and the food is below average. Augustiner HBhaus is significantly better.
- Håkan FAugust 5, 2015It's a must if you are in Munich even if it's crowded and all tourists come here, also for the shady history in the 1930-s
- Lukáš MattaJuly 15, 2016Awesome historic Bavarian restaurant since 1516! Excellent beer and meals, great atmosphere.
- Dogan G.October 6, 2013Good city center alternative to beer houses at the Octoberfest Grounds, Theresienwiese where its difficult to get in especially when you are late during the day. Octoberfest food with live band.
- John 忠威 suɐɥ Dyke🐑August 31, 2014This is centrally located icon and a must for visitors. There is a shop for souvenirs whether you drink there or not. The atmosphere is pure fun and enjoyment
