If arriving from another country, you can't buy a regular Oystercard here. Ticket office only sells visitor Oyster cards which cost more. Buy a ticket and purchase an Oyster card at your destination.

Get print at home tickets. The queues are unbelievable. Also, make sure you read the monitors before you cross the barrier, no info once you're in. Pure genius!!!

Southern, Thameslink & Gatwick Express trains can take you into different areas of London. Stations include, Victoria, Clapham Jct, London Bridge, St Pancras. Plus Luton Airport and south to Brighton

Don't be shy to ask for help. Different companies run different trains at different prices/times to the same places. If you don't want to stand in line, ask an attendant and use the ticket machines!

You can use contactless payment cards and Oyster cards for trains to London; both for the Gatwick Express and the cheaper Southern or Thameslink trains.

If you do save money by not getting the Gatwick Express, spare a thought for everyday people and not block the doors or put your suitcase on a seat and stopping people from. Sitting down..

Extremely confusing to navigate if it's your first time visit. Try to download a map of the train diagram before you arrive for less stress and more ease.

Buy your tickets in advance using the train line app and collect them from the two dedicated collection machines to the right of the horrible queue. Much quicker

Buying your tickets on Trainline only saves time if you pick them up before your return flight, i.e. before you leave.

Don't be misguided by the Gatwick Express signs. You can still buy tickets to National Rail trains, they are £4 cheaper and only take 1-6 minutes longer. Mind the queues!

Lifts down to the platform are all the way back in the terminal building and new ticket barriers just create queues, train staff need to go on a customer service course!

The fact that you have to exit the station after you have entered in order to access the lift to platform 4. Why would you need a lift to platform 4? Because you have a lot of baggag
