- Nicholas HartNovember 3, 2014One of my favorite restaurants in Berkeley. Great old fashioned Jewish deli sandwiches like Reubens and patty melts. They even have tongue on rye if you're into that kinda thing. Free pickles too!
- Fodor's TravelJuly 25, 2018High ceilings and red-leather booths add to the friendly, retro atmosphere of Saul's deli, a Berkeley institution that is well known for its homemade sodas and enormous sandwiches. Read more
- Try the Stuffed Cabbage Rolls - Cabbage stuffed with ground beef, carrots & spices. Served w/ veggies & mashed potatoes (via @Foodspotting)
- m dJune 13, 2016I love the sandwich here. Must have corned beef sandwich and pickles. Next is metzo ball soup.
- Olivia PMay 26, 2017Love Saul's restaurant! Lovely selection of Israeli influenced dishes. The chicken schnitzel is so good! It's not your typical German style - instead it's breading has middle eastern spices in it!
- Brandon ArbiterFebruary 11, 2020We love the sabich platter, malawach Yemeni pancake, and mushroom Reuben (availabile on mariposa gluten-free bread)
- Kevin StappDecember 3, 2018The Kippers & eggs with a bagel was a delicious breakfast. Excellent , friendly service at this popular neighborhood spot
- Great Jewish deli eats. Usually stuff my face with latkes, pickles, pastrami and more pickles. Busy at weekends for brunch, but we'll worth a visit.
- Pacific UnionMarch 27, 2013The bagels are so good here! Really nice spot for breakfast/brunch or lunch. Love the matzo ball soup, the pickles, and the blintzes. Be prepared to wait on the weekend.
- Brian StraussDecember 3, 2014Considering that Saul's exists on the West Coast -- a coast that just doesn't understand real deli, Saul's latkes, pastrami, and matzo balls are excellent.
- Jim AndersonOctober 1, 2013Try the Pastrami Sandwich - I know...I'm predictable. But Pastrami is one of those "quest" foods. I'm always looking for the best ever! This was great!
- Jeffrey BarrettNovember 15, 2014Free pickle plate appetizer is a winner although full and half sour don't hold a candle to the dill. Don't miss the homemade sodas!
- Milli ParkusNovember 29, 2016Love this place! Very good Jewish food😊👍🏼 parking is hard but will still go there!
- Try the Morning Salad - Poached egg, diced pastrami on a bed of mixed greens. It's a nice low carb alternative to the Deli Hash.
- Joey PiscitelliOctober 6, 2013The knishes are great. The food and atmosphere may enable you to feel like you're in a New York deli.
- Tasting TableJune 27, 2012Try the malawach, or Yemeni pancake. The chef covers this glossy, flaky pastry round with a thick tomato sauce and flecks of fresh mint: Read more
- Have breakfast at Saul's and then go to Berkeley Hort! Food and plants, what a great way to spend a sat and sun!
- Salami and eggs are back in action! Be sure to swap in a bagel & cream cheese instead of toast, too!
- The sandwich specials (especially nos. 1 and 3) are a nice addition to the lunch menu. Always good. Always high quality! Been a Saul's fan since they opened in the 1980s!
- Libby Lee-EganSeptember 3, 2017The half order of the deli hash is a very small amount of food. But! There only bagel tops, no bottoms
- Pastrami Reuben, pastrami sandwich, pickles, an chocolate pudding are all AMAZING.
- Andrew WilsonSeptember 20, 2014Boiled salt bagels are so hard to find on the West coast, but Saul's has got you covered.
- Do yourself a favor and order their cheesecake; it is heavenly!!!!
- Olivia PJuly 17, 2017Can't believe I'm saying this but I like the food here better than any deli in NYC.
- Karl HobartJuly 30, 2011Their catering platters are great for parties, with a generous spread of corned beef, pastrami and turkey!
- Great place for informal meetings - sit at the back for privacy
- Alice FerrisOctober 1, 2013Try the Hamentashen - This one had poppyseed filling. A little dry, but the flavor was good.
- Jorge JustApril 6, 2014The potato salad comes out of a can. They just add bell peppers and pickles to it.
- Jim AndersonOctober 1, 2013Try the chopped liver - This wasn't "chopped liver" but it was Chopped Liver...and look, someone is hungry!
- Damian CookseySeptember 30, 2010Blintzes are awesome. Sit facing away from the street during the day to avoid being blinded by the sun reflecting off cars.
- Chicken in a Pot - good for when you have a cold and good when don't
- Be nice to the staff and they will definitely appreciate you. We always get excellent service!!!
- Also can't say enough about their hash and their Yemenite special at breakfast. The Trumer Pilsner pint goes well with most dishes... :)
- The TEO - Trout Eggs Omelette is very good - don't let my photo fool you
