Easy to navigate and gives you access to the Shinkansen, JR lines and the underground. Best thing about Ueno station is the Ichiran ramen place at the west exit though.

Very well conected by train and metro to all Tokyo, tourist atractions and Airport. Very nice area with plenty of shops, malls, markets, small restaurants, parks and temples.

Lots of cafes and panda things. There's only one spot for coin lockers. Recommend coming here before going to the airport

You can buy shinkansen tickets at the automated machine only with a Suica card. Best to get help inside. The folks at the counters know just enough English to help make your purchase.

上下に長い巨大ターミナル駅。その構造は複雑怪奇。地下鉄への乗り換えは1階の中央改札、上野公園方面へは3階の公園改札を利用するのが便利。急いでなければ宇都宮線、高崎線はときどきある地平ホームからの始発電車を待てば座れる可能性が少しだけ上がる。逆に急いでるときは京浜東北線で赤羽まで出て、湘南新宿ラインを待った方がいいこともある。

上野東京ラインが出来ようと、やっぱり東北方面への玄関な感じがする。その東北方面に行く宇都宮線と高崎線はホームが多く、常磐線は中距離と快速があり、初めての人は混乱するので発車標をよく見ましょう。

Possibilité d'échanger son JR pass, Ueno est desservie par la Ginza Line, Hibiya Line et la JR Yamanote. Point de départ également des shikensen pour Aomori par exemple.

下りのひたちはこの駅を出ると基本次は水戸までノンストップなので注意。一部柏、土浦にとまるものはある。上野発着のときわには車内販売はいません。

上野公園の最寄り駅。さくら祭りが開催中、只今、造花?でできているビッグパンダがあります。（2体なパンダは公園口の反対側改札外にあります。）

東京国立博物館、国立西洋美術館、東京都美術館、藝大美術館などメジャーどころが集積。どこかで何かしら企画展をしているし、常設展は比較的ゆったり見られるのでいい場所です。

6月より耐震補強工事で中央口〜不忍口間にある地下のトイレが利用できなくなり、13番線トイレを利用するよう案内が出ているが、男性は入谷改札のトイレを使う方が吉。

「ふるさとの訛なつかし停車場の人ごみの中にそを聴きにゆく」15番線ホームに石川啄木の歌碑があります。そして例のトイレがあったことで有名。

高崎線・東北本線は地平ホームと高架ホームの併用で、発車案内をちゃんと見てないと乗り換えにミスる。

かつては東北・上越の玄関口と言いながらもいわきに行く「ひたち」を除き北関東までしか在来線はありませんし、東京品川ラインができて乗換える駅から素通りする駅になった新しい上野駅ですが、しばらくは哀愁漂う存在で残りそうです。

駅スタンプは改札内みどりの窓口(新幹線乗り換え口前)に3つ、中央改札外正面玄関口ガレリア下に1つひっそりとある。写真のパンダ柄はみどりの窓口内にある。
