Chinese Fireball (red side) is best for those who like speed and the sensation of lift and drops. It's a bit of a bumpy ride though. Be prepared to get beaten up!
Horntail (blue side) is best for those who like twists and turns and the sensation of torque. It's not as bumpy as the red side. Still, be prepared to get beaten up!
The Red Dragon, the Hungarian Horntail, is the more intense of the two at 60mph and a 115ft drop. The Chinese Fireball, blue, goes to 55mph and drops 95 ft.
The front row line moves quicker than you think. Don't forget to get a locker or leave all your pocket contents with someone, as there are metal detectors.
Best rollercoaster, make sure you put everything on the lockers, they also have metal detectors so you going to waste some time going back to the locker
Doing this twice in a row may make your body explode, but it's totally worth it! Ice is the way to go and the front is totally worth it. GET HERE EARLY and there's no wait!
They are currently NOT running the dragons as dueling. Still a decent ride, but it loses something. My favorite: blue dragon front row - feels like you will hit the wall and less bumpy than red.
I hate big drops in rollercoasters but I didn't mind it so much for this ride as it was more of an upside down and side to side motion which I could handle much better. Be prepared to feel nauseous!
The Front Row is the only way to ride this beast....😈 The Blue (Hungarian Horntail) is the 1 to ride.. more twists and turns than the Red (Chinese Fireball)...
I really regret not riding front row on this one... the thrill there must be really awesome! The line was a long one, and didn't have time to ride it again and wait for front row spot. :(
Some how Comcast universal has managed to turn one of the greatest B&M track designs into an abysmal experience. I would rather be stuck on its a small world for an eternity.
They weren't dueling when I went. I guess they changed it when they converted the ride to Harry Potter world? Either way ride in the front seat it's way more fun!
When it's a five minute wait time that's pretty much just walking straight through the queue. Great attention to detail in it though. Most efficient and fun ride in the park!
This ride used to be called Dwelling Dragons in the past and was way better than now. They don't dwell anymore and that fact took it away the fun part. Still worth riding it though, both.
Dragon Challenge is a pair of intertwined inverted roller coasters in the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter area of Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. Awesome Ride!!
The wait was listed as 40 minutes, but if you don't care about being in the front row (overrated in my opinion), go for the other line! We rode twice in 20 minutes.
Honestly, you're just better off putting everything valuable in the locker. I can't tell you how many people have lost phones, ipods, glasses, jewelry, etc.
The Dragon Challenge queue is one of the hidden spaces in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Learn more at OrlandoInformer.com by clicking the "more info" link. Read more
Leave EVERYTHING in the lockers... Apparently some idiot dropped a coin and blinded someone. Security will stop you and that's not fun considering that the re-ride short cut has been removed...
