- One of my favorite places in San Francisco. Beautiful views, little trails to explore and super dog friendly.
- Great views on the coast from high up but you can access the beach by a steep walk down some stairs. The main attraction is all the DOGS! Also cool to see hang gliders.
- Helen ZhangJuly 23, 2011Why are dogs so lucky? They get one of the most beautiful trails to walk, overlooking the Pacific Ocean on one side and the skyline of SF including Golden Gate Bridge and Twin Peaks.Upvoted Mar 10
- Marta SinclairNovember 5, 2020Loveeee 🤗 this place beautiful park leads to a beach we’re dogs are running free of leash , as happy as they can be down to the beach . People are enjoying the beach and sun . walk to the beach good
- Mark McGregorMarch 10, 2013Best dog park in the Bay, if not all of California. Dogs rule the beach, hang gliders rule the air, with hiking fun amongst the old gun emplacements on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific.
- Jeff Reine 🌧January 3, 2016Great place for a walk with the kids but beware Fort Funston is a dog-first space with tons of off leash, four-legged friends
- Our dog loved running around the hills of the sand dunes! People and their dogs are so nice here. definitely treat your pup and bring them here
- Justin SullivanSeptember 22, 2015Sand dunes, surf, hang gliders, views up the coast to the golden gate and down toward Pacifica. This is a San Francisco secret.
- One of the coolest tucked away dog parks in SF. Free, dogs run run off leash and breathtaking views of the Pacific. What more could you ask for? Definitely making this a regular spot.
- A RDecember 10, 2016Beautiful sweeping views of the California coast and very popular with dogs as well
- Winson WongFebruary 2, 2015Love love love Fort Funston. So much open space for dogs to run around crazily. Yes it's windy but sooooo much spaceeeee!!!
- Great place to let the dogs roam free. Currently undergoing improvements on the trails. Beach access climb back up is killer 😪
- Anton ShusterJuly 7, 2015SO MANY DOGS! Maybe you'll catch the hang-gliders. There are also cool old bunkers and the parking lot is an old Nike missile site.
- Missuhh NoneemusAugust 2, 2015Great trails! Watch out for animal fecal matter! Especially the horse poop! Great scenery! Love this place;
- Go Find AliceMarch 28, 2018Doggie Disneyland!!!! Bring your pup here and he/she will be the happiest dog on earth!
- Amy BOctober 31, 2015Dogs. Dogs. Dogs. Beautiful views with large beach but don't come if you don't like dogs!
- This place is a ton of fun. That's why it's called Fort Fun's-ton.
- Perri SilverDecember 30, 2014Don't wear shoes or pants you care about. You will get swept up in the tide. Ps doggies!!!!
- This place is beautiful. Take your dog here and let him run free while you take a nice walk along the coast.
- Greg JordanAugust 16, 2013If you want to enjoy a view of the ocean, first check the weather report for fog, especially during the summer. Hey, it's San Francisco!
- BV MeyerSeptember 26, 2012Prepare for a sandy walk that your dog will love... It's a steep climb up/down to beach but worth it.
- Niko TjhinJuly 30, 2011They have a website where they show webcams and weather condition. Good way to know if it's windy, foggy or if you just want to see if it is crowded here. Just google "fort funston webcam".
- Tito GJuly 7, 2010Easily one of the best places to take the dog in SF, and get a workout yourself. Most people pick up their dogs turds here, except me, i never do, thats totally disgusting...(just being real)
- Get to the beach and head south... always fewer people
- Daily PuppyMay 6, 2011Dogs and their owners can easily spend hours here running up and down the trails & beach. Wearing rubber boots will keep your toes dry and don't forget to pick-up your pooch's poop.
- Go down to the beach going southbound. So much better than the sketchy Battery Park area. Owners there are craycray!!!
- John Garland TysonJanuary 22, 2010We take our dogs to Fort Funston to walk without having to deal with the leash. They just love running around in the spectacular surroundings on the coast, playing with other dogs. Their true personal
- Bennett W WongAugust 8, 2016Like hearing ocean tides and walking the dog? You came to the right spot.
- SASHA MADFESApril 16, 2010You can check a live picture taken every 5 minutes during daylight hours, the current temperature, and the times of the low/high tides at the following website:
http://www.thefyigroup.com/ff Read more - Walk through the eucalyptus tree groves. Keep walking down the main path, towards Ocean Beach. At the end of the path, turn right off pavement, back towards the parking lot.
- Danielle FMarch 3, 2013Don't leave valuables in your car here. All the broken glass on the ground are from car windows. Notorious for theft so be smart. The car next to ours wasn't so lucky and neither were we
- I love to see all the different breeds of dogs walking off leash.. gorgeous views too.
- Nice place to take a stroll down on the beach as well hang gliding “
- Anthony PalombitJanuary 13, 2013especially at sunset. low tide is something to consider if you're with your dog.
