If you only have hand luggage and your boarding pass, do use Terminal C for going through security. Any flight or airline, super quick, took me less than 10 minutes 😎
There train ticket machine outside the airport only takes coins and always has a queue. Instead buy your ticket to town at the tourist info. It's usually quiet.
Some better airporty deals: cheapest water o.5l carat for 1 EUR at Heinemann, most tasty cheap snack is the Minierollbrot from Marche for 4.5 EUR, cheapest coffee from Quickers for 2.5 EUR
It’s not a great airport to be honest. But the story around it is unique and keeps the whole city - if not the whole country - talking. Such untypical efficiency is unheard of!! 😂
Pretend you don't know how much the local bus fare is (ask in english), and enjoy the evil eyes on the deliberately surprised faces of the bus drivers.
A little outdated and chaotic airport for a world class city like Berlin. At least it's easy to get there by S-Bahn. The station is located in zone C, so buy your ticket accordingly.
Arrived to the airport 3hrs ahead of time for Ryanair flight.. When it was our time we had a long queue with many skipping in front and no order. Chaos ensued ! We won't fly through this airport again
Get an S-Bahn day ticket for € 7.70 and ride tram bus underground and rail all day - despite the confusing U- and S-Bahn logos and separate maps they are all one system.
Security lines are long and understaffed. You can easily miss your flight. Staff are not helpful at rushing passengers with immediately departing flights through--you're on your own here!
Make sure you have a valid ticket (i.e. one that includes Fare Zone C and has been validated) before using public transport between here and the centre of Berlin! :)
Get your Berlin BVG Public Transport card at the tourist info immediately outside arrivals. Though 6 days is a somewhat odd period the Welcome Berlin card is a great package.
The new airport cannot come soon enough. Crowded with nowhere to sit, and you have to negotiate several sets of stairs between check-in and your gate: not great for those unable to carry stuff.
Departures can get busy. So If you have some time to kill, go straight through, past Burger King, to the bar at the end. It's often quieter and you'll be closer when they call your gate
The best about this airport is that it has Kamps. Take a coffee or tea on arrival to airport. That is the best experience. Don't expect much about anything else here — typical lowcost airport.
The train station is a good 10-15 mins walk after you come out of the airport. Account for this time while planning a train journey to the city center.
If you arrive with just hand luggage and if you already have your boarding pass there is a special building for the security check. It will allow you to skip the check-in areas.
The quickest way to get into the city is with the Airport Express, either the RB14 or RE7.Trains leave at 25 past and 5 to each hour from Schönefeld Flughafen Station. Find more info on our blog! Read more
Quite chaotic and not efficient, not a lot of store selections, however Marche cafe is great, staff are friendly and the adidas section is really nice.
It has been improved in the recent years. Despite that, it’s not the most convenient airport with lots of stairs. Transportation to the city centre is easy with the Regio Bahn.
I was mortified - incredibly rude security staff, no place to sit in Terminal D and don't even make me mention the amazingly loud construction works going on in the middle of the terminal. Nightmare.
Worst airport I've ever been to. Not much to see or do, not many places to eat and difficult to find a place to sit although you could see many empty seats in the closed off gates.
Not the best place in the world for A delay. No power outlets, poor food (Burger King and a sandwich shop) and probably not enough seats. Bring your own food and a power bank.
From airport use the S-Bahn S45 to Südcreuz and change there for S and U Bahn across/around Berlin. Single ticket around €3.20 per person, takes about 30 minutes.
Very crowded airport. For whom that need to reach the city and viceversa: you can download the official app "bvg" from public transportation and take (and validate) tickets through it.
It's an ok airport. They have a great tourist information who, surprisingly, spoke my language. This airport combined with Easyjet= LONG QUE TIME in baggage drop, but fast security compared to CPH
It's worth buying your train ticket inside the terminal rather than queueing at the station with lots of groups who aren't sure what they are doing. Also make sure to check the timetable before flight
This airport is only 1 stop into the C Berlin Deutche Bahn section, so make sure to buy an ABC s/u-bahn ticket or you'll be just another tourist (like me!) paying the 60 euros fine.
Small international flights arrival terminal, passport control is slow in both directions (arrival/departure). Baggage carousel often malfunctions :( Can't believe that it is Germany!!!
Horrible in all details: queues everywhere. Bad crowd management at check-in (avoid easyjet, if you can), ugly food stores blocking he way to the gate, confusing wayfinding system. And lots of stairs!
