This was a great burger, but try something other than Gruyere. I made mine like a 'garbage salad'. The iceberg, pickled onion, cucumber and chipotle thousand island was perfectly complimented by Blue!
Beef in particular is good here. Very good burger. The steak frites is a good choice and comes with an absolute mountain of fries. Get a few apps and share the steak.
The steamed clams were really good, the chorizo in there was amazing, and had the pork chop with beans too, was pretty damn good except the cole slaw with it had too much mayo or something.
When you see goat cheese soufflé on the specials board, order it right when you're seated. You wouldn't want them to run out before you get your fork in one!
Overlooked item: the reuben here is amazing. Bread, dressing, meat are all perfectly proportioned; beats out many a deli--yes I am looking at you Saul's--effortlessly.
Best burger in Oakland, I think. Medium rare with the gruyere and herbed fried instead of the steak fries. And a vodka martini with a twist. Oh so good.
