- ℳ𝒶𝓎♍March 29, 2018There is a lot to like about Grumpy as a daily morning coffee stop at the end of your morning commute. Great espresso & cold brew(strong yet so smooth doesn't have that sour aftertaste that I despise)
- Project Latte: a NYC cafe culture guideAugust 30, 2014The latest branch of this fast-growing local chain / coffee roaster, a favorite of ours, is located in a former Starbucks and joins Joe the Art of Coffee in Grand Central Station. (5/14)Upvoted 3 weeks ago
- Jacob BriarsApril 1, 2015Slightly harried service but better than the other Midtown options. Espresso machine much more popular than Drip, because of those queues, might be a rare spot where pour-over is faster than espresso
- Ethan CNovember 29, 2014Friendly staffs, good consistent coffee & cute orange espresso machine :) They take credit cards - unlike Joe coffee which is also in Grand Central.
- Kevin O'NeillAugust 31, 2016For the options around here this is your best choice for a good espresso pull. Otherwise head over to Bryant park for blue bottle, bluestone or la colombe.
- Project Latte: a NYC cafe culture guideAugust 29, 2014The Grand Central Station branch of this fast-growing local chain / coffee roaster, a favorite of ours, is on the soulless side, with decor that nods toward the Grumpy identity via the color orange.
- Benjamin LodiJanuary 4, 2020Excellent espresso, retro atmosphere, great counter for people watching. I especially appreciate the minimally-sweet mocha; no coffee-flavored hot chocolate here.
- Their house roasted espresso is fabulous! I'm also a big fan of their single origin in house roasts for coffee at home -- great way to start the day.
- An oasis in the coffee wasteland of Midtown East. Iced lattes are consistently good, and three varieties of iced tea are worth trying when you need a change.
- TimelessnomadApril 8, 2015Easy to grab a quick coffee here during commuter hours. Line moves fast. You'll find it right before on the east side doors of GCT near all the shops.
- CalvinJune 13, 2015Great coffee. They roast their own beans. One of the best coffees I've had in Manhattan. Not really any seating, but awesome take away flat whites!
- BusetoFebruary 1, 2015Perfect place to read, write or catch up with a friend. Great ambiance with plenty of seating. Nobody is grumpy here except for me needing coffee.
- Daniel H.August 21, 2015Great use of a former small Starbucks location in Grand Central. Sit at the counter along the big windows and people watch as you enjoy your coffee.
- BassimJune 2, 2015Tell me about Cafe Grumpy, I'll tell you about a Pour-over cup of coffee! Also, don't miss their delicious cookies!
- Susan S.April 26, 2015Latte was decent, the foam/milk was thick and fluffy - it's $4.50 for a small. They don't do any flavored shots like vanilla which was kind of disappointing. Their pastry display looked good too!
- best option for good coffee if you're coming/going through Grand Central. got some interesting seasonal specials sometimes
- Bryant BalatbatNovember 8, 2016This location makes a pretty good cortado. The place is pretty narrow with shallow bar tables, but it should be more than enough room for most people.
- Enjoyed a cappuccino and almond croissant. Both exceeded my expectations for being in a train station.
- A compact Cafe Grumpy offering the full menu. Some seating, but perfect for grabbing a coffee before the train or some beans for home.
- Cafe grumpy is fantastic and I usually just get what's brewing and it's delicious.
- Great drip, and better than any starbucks around. They take credit cards, and line moves pretty fast.
- They have soy milk (among Starbucks, Tartinery inside GCT). Iced soy vanilla latte easily becomes $7 !
- Chet ManciniApril 8, 2015Best coffee in midtown. Get a flat white because these people knew what that meant before Starbucks did.
- EdSeptember 8, 2017best midtown coffee I’ve tried yet, pastry is regular but definitely fresh the above average
- The blueberry muffin and quality coffee here is sometimes what gets me out of bed in the morning
- KarenOctober 23, 2014Great pour over! I took the barista's recommendation of Las Flores and wasn't disappointed.
- Jag FirerwalkerMarch 18, 2016Even so that the queue are long it is super quick. I don't know how it is humanly possible, but they do it. Great coffee- just to small size
- Nick GorczynskiJanuary 18, 2015Unlike other locations, you CAN order a quick pre-made coffee here before you catch your train.
- The place knows how to manage the crowd, even from 8:30 to 10 they know how to keep the line moving
- Grab your milk, lid and straw, and then keep moving! If you crowd the milk station for five bumbling minutes, you deserve every “rude” New York eye-roll you get.
- I love there cold brews they don’t play around and the staff is really dope .
- Nick HJune 4, 2014Get something other than black iced coffee. I don't know if it's the "Brooklyn" hipster view to like odd things but the coffee certainly tastes just like that....odd.
- The best coffee my whole trip. Bringing beans home. Love the face.😠
- Svetlana NovokshonovaOctober 7, 2014Yummy tastes for those who is fed up with all that starbucks thing. No WC inside
- Fee DoyleDecember 5, 2018Fun crew and hardworking- really crank the espresso shots during rush hours.
- David LaBarJanuary 30, 2016Nothing like the Chelsea location. Limited seating, no WiFi and I am resisting the urge to clean their floors. Oh, btw, it's actually on Lex @ 43rd.
- pour over happy hour from 6-8pm. Any selection of coffee $2.75!
- Line is always long but it moves fast. Their cold brew is excellent.
- Ashley RoseJanuary 17, 2015A welcomed replacement to yet another midtown Starbucks! Yummy lattes and cute logo🐱
