If you like steak, get the Beef Tenderloin which isn't on the normal dinner menu --- it's a special. Just ask. I had two: one medium rare and medium well. Both were cooked to perfection.
At this sunny new restaurant in The Standard East Village, John Fraser is serving an inspired version of California cuisine. The roasted beets, carrots Wellington, and lamb saddle are early standouts.
The quintessential French pastry is upgraded with layers of milk chocolate cremeux and malted whipped cream stacked between delicate puff pastry. Read more
the rotisserie crisped beets are EVERYTHING. the carrot fries are also mad good. everything is fresh and inventive. intimate atmosphere, too. they have garden seating as well.
Fantastic, creative fare similar but a bit heartier than ABC Kitchen's: (Must-have) Crab Toast, Duck Breast, Chocolate Strawberry Brownie, & refreshing "To Pretty!" Reserve & be back in a heartbeat!
Items from their vegetable rotisserie are fabulous eg beets and the sweet potatoes. I also love their bass. And weather permitting get a table outdoors.
Cute box of house made, warm donuts $10 for 4 mini & 3 holes. Carrot fries were tempura style but jalapeño tofu dip made the dish $7 for 6 pieces. Brunch plates were small and around $15. Good not g8
The potato gnocchi !!! I totally regret getting the smaller bowl. Skip the carrott fries but get the beets rotisserie. Very cute place. Was seated in the area to the left nice and quiet and calm
Downhill slide. Once creative and tasty but now avocado toast comes with 1 slice with a thin smear of avocado and poached egg for $15. Almond cappuccino had separated milk $5. Avoid at brunch now.
Trendy restaurant without being a total clusterfuck. The space is cozy and the food happens to be great: beets; crab salad; raw tuna, gnocchi, black bass curry; carrot fries. Sit at the Chef's Table.
The brussels sprouts leaves, the beets, the clam risotto and the gnocchi (ramps!) are fantastic. Nothing compares to the presentation of the poached egg. Delicious wine and natural light too!
Narcissa the cow “presides over” Balazs’s farm in the Hudson Valley, which is the main source of the vegetables, herbs, and eggs on an elegant but accessible menu from the chef John Fraser of Dovetail
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Get the bass, spinach and definitely stick around for the desserts. The wine selection is superb. Wonderful atmosphere. Great for dates.
Beautiful outside seating in dappled sunlight under trees. Cocktails were delicious, the gin one with dill was my fav. My frittata was good but desserts were better. Sundae was the best!
Go South Pacific and order a Mai Tai. It arrives in a tall ceramic tiki cup, keep the umbrella garnish. And order the Japanese fried chicken. You will not be disappointed.
LOVE this place. Suggest sharing appetizers: beets, barley risotto and the carrots Wellington are excellent. For mains, try the branzino, the bass, scallops or cod.
Skillet Burger, $18 Odd that you can find one of the city’s best burgers in a restaurant known for its rotisserie beets and carrots Wellington. Lunch and brunch only.
Main dining area is gorgeous & warm and the main event. Side area w open kitchen is really cool - show kitchen style and fun. The risotto appetizer is amazing.
Get that lamb medium rare and the sofrito kale. Grilled shrimp for appetizers was on point too. Good, but on the small side portions, very fresh and tasty dishes.
Opt for the Short Ribs and Rotisserie-Crisped Beets as starters, and choose any of the mains to follow; both vegetables and proteins are cooked beautifully at Narcissa.
The rib eye is solid; delicious and filling. Start off with the carrot fries, but note that the portion is only good for 2 ppl at most. Sea bass good, but small.
Excellent new veggie heavy American food. Highlights include the rotisserie roasted beets; carrots Wellington; caramelized duck bittersweet chocolate tart.
Given the restaurant nature, menu changes from time to time although I trust there are some dishes that are there always. Everything was good but ice cream sundae surprised me
The bread is stellar. The Bronzino is lemony winner. The tempura carrots are fun but overrated for my taste. It's a nice place with a warm unstuffy atmosphere which makes it great date night spot.
Thrillist: "These aren’t your average carrot sticks, built to deliver tubs of hummus to your face. Here, John Fraser worked his magic to turn the Bugs Bunny snacker into tempura-battered beauties"
Winter Sundae - "Olive oil ice cream, lemon thyme whipped cream, meyer lemon curd, Himalayan sea salt, and some other crunchy things come together to create the Voltron of cold desserts." Infatuation
What a beautiful dining space. Food is a bit plain, but the aim is to highlight the vegetables and it works. Crowd loved the Manchurian cauliflower. Gnocchi was a bland bust.
