They moved their tracks a long way from the station. used to be easily accessible, was more parking. Now it's a long hike to the tracks for no obvious reason. Big mistake imho. Allow extra time!
buy your ticket online or through the amtrak app. if your smartphone can display qr codes, the conductors and bus drivers can scan them directly from your phone... no more scrambling to print!
All You have to do is ask the ticket agent to have you transported to the trainplatform and they’ll freely take you there if it’s difficult for you to walk there !
With all the remodeling you must take a much longer walk underground to get to your trainplatform. Add an extra 10 minutes to your "I'll get there last minute" plan if you are a procrastinator.
If someone else buys your ticket for you with their card their name will be on it. Most conductors won't care, but some will give you a haughty lecture and maybe even reject it.
Amtrak buses are between the station and the tracks under the overhang. If you're getting off the train, cross the street and go right (taxis on left). If you've got a wait, station is warm. And wifi.

Some of the later commuter trains like the 5:40 to san Jose board 20 minutes early. So if you have a ticket and want to get out of the weather early it helps
Definitely allow extra 10-15min to use the self-serve ticketing machines. Seriously un-tech savvy travelers mean long waits to print tickets that you bought online.
Trains occasionally leave a minute or two earlier than what your cell phone may read. Don't make my mistake of getting there with what you thought was 2 minutes to spare!
