The Ritz-CarltonNovember 10, 2016A must-see for train lovers. Enjoy a popular event “SL Steam”, a chance to ride a real steam train. The nearby Umegoji Park is a great place for kids to run around in nature.

JernejOctober 6, 2017If you are into trains this is a must go in Kyoto. Opened in 2016 and full of new and old engines plus much more. They also have a train model show (last 16:00) and steam train ride (last 16:00).

SF1March 4, 2018貴重な0系新幹線が展示されています。懐かしい記憶が蘇りますが、それ以上に歴史に触れることが出来ることに感動を覚えます。お子様は勿論のこと、大人も１日楽しめます。ただ、乗り物にあまり興味のない方々には数時間が限度かも知れません。
京都市にある鉄道博物館。貴重な車両を展示してあることもさることながら、博物館内にある引込線が京都貨物駅そして東海道線(JR京都線)と接続しているため、定期的にJR貨物やJR四国といった他社の車両も展示されており、飽きさせることが無いように工夫されています。
京都駅から市営バスによる急行バスの運行あり。向かうときは利用を推奨。帰りは少し歩いて梅小路公園バス停から京阪京都交通バスを利用すると往路に利用した急行バスと同じくらいの時分で駅へ戻れます。（道路状況にも拠る）- OI029 (´∀｀)January 30, 2020JR西日本の鉄道博物館というイメージがありますが、主体はかつて秋葉原の交通博物館や弁天町の交通鉄道博物館を運営していた交通文化振興財団で、JR西日本は車両の提供や運営協力を行うスポンサーという位置づけです。JR西日本の株主優待で半額で入ることができます。
開渠のような何か holicSeptember 9, 2018前身の梅小路蒸気機関車館から受け継いだSL群は圧巻です。館内の展示は触ってみられるものも多く、仕組みの理解が得られるように工夫されています。きっぷや路線図、最初期のコンピュータなど、鉄道を中心に様々な分野の展示があって面白いです。
ときわ 緑September 1, 20191F奥のトワイライトエクスプレスの客車が置いてあるエリアの手前に電車や新幹線、機関車の運転台を展示している箇所がありますが、221系のモックアップ(車内アナウンス設備も付いている模様)のもの以外は可動部分がないようです。
京都鉄博の敷地内にある喫煙所はトワイライトプラザ近くとここスチーム号乗り場近くの2箇所しか存在しない（2022年5月現在）。2つとも、屋内の展示棟から動くとやや遠い。
- 特別展示などで使う営業引き込み線とトワイライトエクスプレスの屋外展示付近にある喫煙所。もちろん、列車の走行シーンなどを見ながら喫煙も楽しめる。
